Thyroid? Or something else? Constant internal shakiness

Posted by amtxo1989 @amtxo1989, Feb 26, 2018

Going on 2months now everyday non stop. Sometimes mild and im able to ignore it but over the hours of day it becomes more severe and causing my heart rate to go up and my blood pressure to go very high (170/99) its episodic. Ive been to hospital for it 3 times for it and received no treatment as my vitals slowly return to normal. Xanex helps me feel calm but does not help the shakiness just helps me not get upset about it. Am only 28 years old and hypothyroid. I have never had symptoms like this in my entire life just started out of nowhere. Iam in good sTate of mind and aware of what's happening when the episodes happen. So far my doctors are clueless.

Yes, it feels like you have a vibrator of some kind in your body. Mine started after I had covid. I took lyrica for months to help the tremors. It did for the most part. But I also have high blood pressure that spikes more often than not abcs when that happens, I have major tremors and chills. It usually lasts 24 to 48 hours then comes back down. I believe it is either my thyroid ( I’m hypothyroidism) or my adrenals. Something is pushing my flare ups to the max.

I have the exact thing, Hypothyroidism and tremors, HBP, along with a bunch of other symptoms. Palpitations, hair loss, liver failure, exema, dry skin, geographic toung, dizziness, oh and almost died from Myxedema coma at age 39! the list goes on....
I'm seeing a naturalpath that specializes in autoimmune disorders. She's the only one able to unpack my medical issues! I'm on NP thyroid. Not that other crap main street Docs will put you on! AND by the way, there are exactly ZERO studies saying that a Hypothyroidism condition should be diagnosed by T4 and T3 levels in the blood yet this is how regular docs diagnose! Historically it has been diagnosed by symptoms yet they choose to ignore that history leading to a bunch of people being told they are "In normal ranges" so they're "Fine" and "Nothings wrong" yet you feel like crap! Get a 2nd opinion! If your still having symptoms, something is still not right! Dr's are not God's. And they can only treat you as well as they have been educated.

The doctors keep telling me that the other thyroid tests don’t matter. Just the TSH. I know that’s wrong. My Tsh went from .29 to 9.26 in 3 months and he only wanted to raise my Synthroid to 88mg. That’s 2 different doctors that’s told me that. I’m in the middle of a flare up and I guess I’m going to have to go to the ER again. I’ve taken max dosage of my BP pills. And it only comes down for 2 to 3 hours then right back to the 170’s and 180’s. I’ve tried to get into a naturalist, but can’t get into one near here because they are so booked up. I feel like I’m dying sometimes. I can’t function and of course my husband doesn’t understand because he’s rarely sick.

Hi, had a pituitary tumor age 40, stopped my period. I have hypoprolactinemia. Also, developed clinical hypothyroidism. I’m now 68 and have a lot of medical conditions and still can’t find why I’m clinical hypo. My tsh is the only elevated lab EVER. It will go up to 8 sometimes 10 but every med on the market makes me crazy. I have tried naturalpathic for years and she tried Tirosint. The hypo meds make me feel just awful inside. My family say I’m hyper in behavior, and I’m not right. It causes weight gain which is not an issue, but why. Every 4 months off meds, labs are followed and my levels go from normal to abnormal. I suffer gastroparesis so docs want me always on meds but I won’t. I feel like it sends me into hyper but tsh doesn’t prove it. I feel not great inside and can tell every time I’m due for tsh lab if it’s going to be elevated. I think women at my age don’t always need medicine. I’m always trying to figure this out. Right now my tsh very elevated and it effects my constipation severely but in a month or two the tsh will level out, WHY.
Best of luck to all.

Probably because you have hashimoto's... That doesn't mean that you are always hypothyroid, your thyroid can spew out hormones and you can become hyper. I would look into having surgery to remove your thyroid.

Hi, thanks for input but I have no TPO antibodies in my blood so no Hashimoto’s. I’ve had all thyroid labs you can think of associated with the thyroid and only tsh level goes up high for months and then normal. It changes like the seasons. I think the weather change plays a role. Recently had ultra sound and an 0.8x0.5x0.7 cm hypoechoic nodule. It’s located near strap muscle right thyroid. Doc just said repeat in 3 months.
Thank…Joanne

Disagree, do not take your thyroid out or do Iodine treatment either. The thyroid does around 200 or more functions in your body

There's another antibody to know if you have Hashi is called Thyroglobulin antibody, so check it out. Is not only TPO, I don't have that one I have TG ( thyroglobulin)

Hi, I would never have surgery unless cancer. I have close relatives who had thyroid cancer. My mom and her two brothers as well. I have had that lab also and negative. I think it might be an iodine deficiency which I believe can be ruled out by an easy urine test. I understand it’s rare in this country but with gastroparesis my diet is very very poor. I keep asking to run it but doctors don’t agree. I’m looking through a local lab called Quest and I’ll pay to get it done. I’ve had positive ANA since 2017 too, but all the other tests normal. I have skin rashes all the time and mouth sores very frequently as well. Autoimmune is so hard to diagnose and I don’t want a diagnosis unless it’s proven a true positive. I’ll keep doing my research and take suggestions from here. Sometimes folks have wonderful ideas or tests that helped them.
Thanks…Joanne

It appears that many doctors are clueless when it comes to pain and Autoimmune diseases. I put off calling my doctor for two days now. All I have to say to her is I cannot take it anymore. I feel sorry for you Amtxo. I complained of serious withdrawal pain for three nights at the ER. They sent me home Next day, Gall Bladder was an urgent surgery. I was full of infection. We do not know what this does to our organs. Xanex is strong. I could not take it.

I take Mucuna Purines 11oomg three times daily for the internal shaking and it relieves my symptoms. Still no diagnosis for me either.

I had this problem as well. A neurologist diagnosed it as Essential Tremors and put me on medication to control them. Some days I could hide them really well but as the day went on they became worse and my hands would shake so badly I just opted to stay home more and more often. They felt the same on the inside as they looked on the outside. Some days I was so off balance form them that I would actually fall in my home. I was misdiagnosed for 7 1/2 years from everything to MS to Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. I went through the Mayo Clinic Pain program and even Mayo missed it. I have Hashimoto's Disease. All of the symptoms sound completely unrelated because they cover a very large spectrum. Once diagnosed and correctly medicated the tremors got much better. I opted to remove my Thyroid (my choice, not done at the physicians urging) after 7 months into treatment because leveling out my medication was really difficult after so many years of damage. It's a good thing that I did because the pathology showed Stage One Papillary Cancer that we didn't even suspect that I had. You should go see an Endocrinologist specifically one who deals with Hashimoto's Disease. One simple blood test will confirm or dismiss the diagnosis. My Endocrinologist said that he once saw maybe 1 or 2 people get the diagnosis every few months but he is seeing more and more women developing the disease. I removed my Thyroid 2 years ago and I am glad to say that the tremors disappeared completely soon after surgery. Hashimoto's Disease does not specifically list tremors/essential tremors as a symptom but I know a few people in Orlando who had the same experience that I did even thought they both still have their Thyroid. Go to the Mayo web site's search bar and type in Hashimoto's Disease you can read all of the symptoms and other information. I hope you do not have HD but if you do I assure you there is an end of the road with the struggle with the tremors and one simple blood test can change your entire life. Good Luck!

Sad to say there is not near enough research on Essential Tremor.
I am supplementing my GABA, as it could be low GABA as a cause, but they aren't sure. The only drug they give is a blood pressure med and thats not great for those of us with autoimmunity. Thankfully mine is no worse.
But I also have Hashimotos . wow so now I wonder it there could be a link???
