Hello - could you please tell me which statin you're on because I am having to start one asap and if you've had no side effects I am interested in what you are taking? I have insomnia and am hoping to stay away from any drug that disturbs the few hours of sleep that I do get. Thank you.

I take the generic for Lipetor, which is Atorvestatin, 20 mg. I also have bad insomnia, and take Ativan at the same time before bed. I might be spelling these wrong. Good luck. Keep me posted.
Lipitor put me in the hospital for a week with acute pancreatitus back in 2008. Confirmed it was a statin at fault by trying a "natural" cholesterol lowering red yeast rice supplement which immediately caused the severe abdominal pain. NO STATINS FOR ME!!!
Basically any med that targets the pancreas is off limits to me. That includes GLP-1 meds. However, l seem to be tolerating Repatha very well as it targets the liver. I've been on Repatha since my MI back in March.
It wasn’t immediate for me but increased over time. I tried several types of statins and my pain persisted and kept getting worse. It took two years for doctors to take me seriously that my quality of life was severely limited. Finally, I was given permission to quit. Again, it was not an immediate improvement but I slowly got my life back. Some people have no problems.

Was your pancreas affected? In my case, the abdominal pain was unbearable but that was all I experienced pain-wise. It took several years for the Lipitor to affect my pancreas.
With Lipitor it was about 3 months. I tried taking it every other day, then lowered it more. I had terrible leg cramps especially at night. 2 weeks off, and I was fine. Then Crestor snuck up on me. I had body aches that crept up, then I could use my manual can opener, I had other weird things going on, then fuzzy thinking and brain fog. I was actually going to a physical therapist for something unrelated and had a list for her. I went off Crestor and within a couple if weeks went back to normal and can use my can opener and open jars again. I had a DNA test done which said that I shouldn't use Lipitor. Well, I sure did figure that out on my own!

After my first pancreatitus attack I refused to take another statin of any kind until 2023 when my primary doc recommended Zetia claiming it shouldn't bother my pancreas. He was absolutely wrong!
So from then on, after a severe pancreatitus attack that put me in hospital AGAIN, I now stay away from any medication that might even have a slight chance of causing inflammation of the pancreas as a side effect. So far, Repatha has lowered my LDL-C dramatically without any adverse side effects.

I am on rosuvstatin BUT I went from 5 mg to 7.5 mg by splitting a tablet and I now have side-effects

Not that I know of. It was muscle aches and weakness.

Glad you found something that works for you. I had an allergic reaction to Repatha. It was a bit scary. I was hoping it would be the answer.
