Want to hear from others who have Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
My husband who is 75 is in stage 4 kidney disease according to his gfr. His last Gfr was 27. That sounds terrible to me, but his nephrologist says he is stable. He is not diabetic. His creatinine is 3.2, albumin 4.1. Phosphorus, sodium, calcium, potassium are all normal. His blood pressure is controlled by medication. He exercises by walking one and a half miles every day. He has two heart stents and takes cholesterol medicine. He has shortness of breath on occasion, but still does all of his normal activities like light yard work, fishing, dining out, going to church activities. I do think he sits too much, but try not to nag. He is not good about eating healthy, but is getting better. Maybe I am just worrying too much. Would like to hear from others in this stage of kidney disease.

@darlingtondoll that must have been frightening. Did they discover what the cause of the chest pains was? Hopefully you're sleeping peacefully and will answer in the morning.
@kamama94 I've been thinking of you. How are you holding up?
I’m up at midnight because it’s time for my next dose of gabapentin and tizanidine. They think that my coronary artery is going into spasms from the insertion of the stent. I never get frightened by any of my disorders. I just try to figure out how to treat each problem in the most efficient manner. When I had my spinal cord stroke, I asked the Emergency room doctor where I needed to go to get better. They sent me by ambulance to Shands Hospital, which is associated with the medical school at the University of Florida. They were great and they kept me for five weeks and taught me how to live in a wheelchair. They didn’t prepare me for the horrible burning pain that I have 24/7. I had to figure that one on my own. Now I am also dealing with kidney failure but I am optimistic that I can keep it from going to a dangerous level.
@darlingtondoll I am so in awe of your spirit and fortitude! Thank you for posting here. Warm hugs,
Ginger
As Gilda Radner aka Rosanne Rosannadana used to say, “It’s always something “
Darlingtondoll, Me too! You are truly another valiant heroine in our group of health warriors!
Jane, So True!!!!
Okay Bill. I have been taking the supplement that you mentioned for over a month. I just got my new labs back and my eGFR improved by going up six points! I am almost out of stage 3 and I am so happy to get that news. I can’t stop smiling. I never cheat on my renal diet, so maybe that helps too.
Great news on your GFR improvement, Jane! Can you or Bill re-mention the supplement he must have posted at some other time? Also Stage 3 and wondering if this supplement could be ordered or boost my #s too?
We got it on Amazon. It’s called Sunergetic Kidney Cleanse
Just curious, how can you be sure the supplements are actually changing your kidney function and not just tricking the test into producing a false reading? Many supplement can alter test results dramatically. Vitamin C supplements sometimes produce false positives for blood in stool and Biotin can mask troponin levels in heart attack patients. It be great if there were a supplement that truly regenerated damaged kidney tissue. What ingredients do you think are helping?
