Saline nebulized inhalation

Rx’d. 0.9%,3 mL. If three is good might five be even “gooder?” I can get it in 5 mL doses. Any reason not to go for it?

Thanks! My new doc in Penn’s bronchiectasis clinic thinks I may not have much in there. I’d tried the 3% prior to that appointment. I’d been thought to have MAC, but cultures were neg. I just have bronchiectasis and hope to keep it that way. 😀If my next CT is worse, I may try that.

@rits

7% is best but some of us can't handle it so we use 3%. .9% is normal body saline and will not help you cough up gunk. I don't think it comes in other %. You need a prescription for 3 or 7%. Ntm's don't like salt so it is a really great airway clearance tool.

You can get the 3% and 7% saline on Amazon without a prescription

hi Sue, do you think it's okay to nebulize 3 x a day with 7% on occassion if your not feeling well and coughing a little, or is that too much?

I nebulize 3 times a day with Levalbuterol and the saline following.

I got 50 vials in a box of 7% Sterile Hypertonic Saline Solution 5ml per vial, Base Laboratories, from Amazon. No prescription is required.

Thank you i installed it. I will try although I have no mucus whatsoever. I went yesterday for mucus collection inducing and the RT could not even help me to get any. How do I even know that my meds work and if I am still positive or already negative? Waiting for my pulmonologist to get back to me

Hi lilianna...
I'm glad you were able to install the app.
I think each person is different as far as getting sputum up. Some people can not. Some a little, and some a teaspoon or two.
Do you have a pulmonary doctor who is well versed with Mac and Bronchiectasis? Where do you live? I live in Blue Ridge Georgia.
What meds are you on...how did they determine to give you meds. How long have you been on the meds? Are they the Big 3 (antibiotics?).
Sometimes they will have you nebulize to induce a big of coughing to get a sputum sample up. Do you do airway clearance on a daily basis? What is you diagnosis?
