Reverse Heart Disease diet

I’ve been following a Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease diet endorsed by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn of the Cleveland Clinic. It’s been proven to be beneficial. Is there anyone who has had experience with those types of diets? There is also Dr. Dean Ornish’s program that is similar.

@mauricepower I remember your previous posts and was so impressed with how you work so hard to stay in great physical shape! I am not familiar with the CC diet, please do explain to all of us about it. Many of us do take care to avoid sodium, sweets, fats....you know, everything that tastes good. Extreme moderaation is a mantra. Yet, a crunchy green pepper or another pepper are delicious! Is there a website you recommend to read about the CC diet? Would you explain in your own words? Thank you.

Hello,
I added cover photos below. I read these books and they provide me with hope. The diet is restrictive but can be enhanced with seasonings and spices. Dr. Esselstyn and his wife are both in their 90’s and can be found on YouTube.

No oils is a strict rule. He doesn’t compromise on that.

I tried adding photos but I’m not sure how clear they are.

@mauricepower Thank you for sharing the information! I am glad to read that it is working for you. Wow! It is quite restrictive; I do see a couple of rules that I - and many other heart patients - had been following for years. We do not give medical advice on Connect and we are not registered dieticians who advise specific diets for individuals. Yet, here is information that would make a good discussion with our doctors to hear what they think about it. Thank you again for sharing.

@walkinggirl
I don’t really know if it’s working but it’s worth a try. I will only know it’s working if I ever have another angiogram.
