Well said Gini @ginip
Like you said, we are the ones that have to endure the treatments. We need to consider quality of life impact not just longevity. Sometimes I feel like a statistic to my doctors. If things go wrong that’s just one person as my doctor sees it and they still have an excellent record overall, but to that one person it’s everything.
Before I started radiation treatment the doctors made it sound so routine with no concerns. I asked a lot of questions about how it might impact pre-x conditions I had. My radiation oncologist said, “Thank you for reminding me there is a real person on the other end of this. Sometimes we doctors just get so used to ordering treatment routinely that we forget there is a real person on the other end saying you’re going to do what to me???”
It felt good to be acknowledged as a human instead of a Petrie dish at that moment. I did end up having unexpected issues due to my pre-x neuropathy, but once healed I was glad I had the treatment.

4 ReactionsI don’t know what the mechanism is but the oncologist gave it to my brother specifically for bone pain, and it worked pretty darn good.

So, it might be 5 years before this can be given to most people, including those who already have had breast cancer. Article said that it would work on most breast cancers.

2 ReactionsI’m going for an mri because I need to make sure that’s it’s not something worse than a reaction to Anastrozole. I was on fone with Breast cancer care in York and nurse git back to me, after she had consultation with her colleagues , that my meds will b changed after we get results of mri. In the meantime she said that f I wanted to stop Anastrozole, I could. I’m going to stop. 🤷♀️

1 ReactionYou are following the right road to a good decision for you. It is what I did and while enduring the withdrawals of this med, I am recollecting how I felt before took it and anticipating the best at a very important level - my quality of life! I make myself remember the value of that consideration.
Please stay in touch and know I am happy to share my experiences as you go along.
Ever onward!

5 ReactionsThank u for your reply. My Anastrozole is due at 5 pm, uk time, but I’ve decided I’m stopping it. I did go off it fir 3 weeks but went back on it last Thursday. Git a bit nervous and plus the side effects were worse being off of it!! The breast are nurse was the first person to actually tell me that they have had many complaints re Anastrozole! Was music to my ears! I know on here and on Breast cancer uk forum, many women have suffered with it but this was the first Breadt care professional to admit it to me!!🤷♀️👍xxx

1 ReactionGood morning. I am now past my 5 years of cancer drugs. When I first started them, my doctor prescribed Anastrozole. I finally had to change to a different drug because i was having such pain from that one. After trying a couple of other ones, I finally was prescribed Tamoxifen. I was able to tolerate that one and stayed on it for the remainder of my 5 years. It does have side effects, but they are so much more tolerable than the other drugs. Wishing you the best of luck and comfort.
