Anyone find relief with supplemental remedies such as Collagen or Glucosamine or Cherry Juice?

I had very similar reactions was on Anastrozole for almost a year before I had leg/knee pain in my right leg. Tried very hard to deal with it but currently on a 3 month hiatus from taking Anastrozole. I was concerned when results regarding many side effects have dissipated but leg/knee issues seem slower to ebb. As usual, I was given no heads up as to what to expect so I have returned to my self investigation. It seems that there are side effects that take a longer time to show progress returning to normal - or at least a tolerable situation. In the meantime I am walking and have scheduled Physical Therapy (The jury is still out on this but worth trying).

As this point the pain has gone from constant to intermittent. I will continue to work on a achieving the quality of life that I remember before taking Anastrozole

Please share your experience as you go along. I would be so interested as I am sure others would be ❤️

I’m able to stick with the meds and mitigate with walking, yoga stretching and movement in general. Oncologist opined Tylenol or 2 week vacay/restart which sometimes helps.

It worries me to take a vacay as I was 2 sentinel node positive … but the next 5 in line were negative. A beneficial ONCOTYPE allowed me to avoid chemotherapy so AI is my treatment protocol.

Has anyone else taken a vacay/restart? How long? Results?

As I remember my daughter saying to me when she was very young - “I am the boss of me!”

Out of the mouth of babes! And so it goes - be open to information that is offered but unless you are 4 years old - then find the balance between the opinions offered and the wisdom/faith that you need to carry on. ❤️

Your daughter was obviously given the space and the encouragement to view her 4 year old self as VALUED. I applaud the environment in which she was raised. I have raised two daughters in such an environment as well.

I research extensively, question everything, and require absolute participation in my health care team and decisions. Self advocacy is crucial IMO. Indeed, a mammo found that I was “normal” but I knew I wasn’t and pushed for an MRI… bingo! Not 1 but 2 big tumors in one breast. It may have saved my life or a much more difficult start to BC treatment. A unilateral mastectomy was performed 6 weeks later.

Advocacy is a must! If one is unable to self advocate I suggest calling on a friend, if possible, who can perform that function

I take two 500 mg of turmeric capsules every day. I am on Arimidex for the next 4+ years at least. Helping with arthritis in hands especially. No side effects for me and think it’s reported to be safe by professionals as well.

I take 500 once daily. Thinking of adding a second. Thank you.

I hope you get some good concrete advice, options and relief. That kind of pain and limitation is just too much IMO.

I am a fit person who works out 7 days a week. I tried all 3 AIs but all of them gave me bad joint pain but oddly enough in different joints. My elbows was the one constant joints affected. I had to give up and go back to Tamoxifen. I’m 100% positive it was the AIs causing the pain because I tested negative for any autoimmune diseases and my rheumatoid arthritis panel was also negative. I’ve been off the AIs for about 3 months and my elbow pain and tailbone pain is still there. It has gotten better but it’s not gone yet. Hope you find a remedy that provides you relief. I know I could not function when it had gotten to the point lifting a glass of water was painful. I still struggle with my left elbow a bit more than my right. I’ve had to reduce my weight for my curls all the way down to 8 pounds and it’s painful but I work through it in hopes of getting better. Wishing you the best.

I'm curious about your joint pain from an AI. Location(s)? How long were you taking an AI before the pain started?

I have been on Letrozole for 27 months for MBC and only started having knee and shin pain in the past few months and mostly at night once sitting or lying down. I was worried the cancer may have spread to my bones, but was told it was the AI causing symptoms. How does my oncologist know that since the pain was not immediate?

I had joint pains from Anastrozole. Went off it per doc's advice and started taking glucosamine & chondroitin supplements till pain went away. Now on exemestane; no pain

Thank you. I see there are options to try. I have not switched to another AI but it’s something to try according to oncologist. I’m going to try to stick with Anastrozole for a bit longer and see if I can mitigate with Turmeric . If not I’ll switch to another AI and try. My symptoms are mild compared to others on this feed. Thank you for all the feedback.

Otis just theOTC genetic Walmart brand. 10 mg. Best deal is Amazon 365 tabs forget the price. I believe it is all about The histamine blocker in the pill. But all I know is I don’t have bone pain other than in my hips from the Mets there. Can’t hurt to try. Ask your doc do it doesn’t interfere with your other meds. It’s a game changer for me. I make purses by hand and I would not be able to do it without the Claritin. XOM

I never would have considered trying Claritin. Thank you for sharing
