What did you do to help radiation burn?

Posted by cadunkin @cadunkin, Oct 24, 2022

After lumpectomy & lymph node removal (margins & nodes showed no cancer) I had 15 rounds or radiation in 3 weeks. At the end of treatment two weeks ago I developed a rash on my chest from the radiation. It’s very red & itches like crazy, which makes it hard to sleep. I’m using over the counter cortisone cream & Aquaphor for the dryness. Has anyone had success with other ways to treat this while waiting for it to heal? This site has helped me tremendously so thank you to everyone!

I used My Girls Skin Care. (10% Calendula) It was recommended by my oncology radiologist. I used this after each radiation treatment. I was told not to use it prior to treatment. I had 4 weeks of radiation with a boost. I had a minimal issue with burns.

You can order this online and there are some hospital gift shops that stock it.

I am going to use it again with my next round of radiation treatments.

I was given Calendula Cream by the Radiation Oncology dept. I applied it right after each Session and than alternated the Cream with Pure Aloe Vera Gel. I was pretty burnt after 20 rounds, but healed fully after 3 months.
Sending comfort and healing💕🌻

I used Aquaphor four times a day. I put it on thick, put a microfiber cloth over it and then my bra. My rash was very inflamed and uncomfortable. Now my skin is fine. I use eucerin every day.

Two doctors had told me to expect burns from 10 days of radiation. Instead, I got itchy rashes, front and back, that eventually healed. Why do some people get burns but other people get rashes?

My radiologist recommended Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gelly. I used it regularly and had no problems other than what looked like a mild sunburn. I do not have sensitive skin, however, so that helped.

I am using this also. 8 treatments in and no burns yet.

Good day!

I finished my 16 days of radiation and now I have a burn that is very bad. My doctor prescribed me SSD, but is not working. Any recommendations? Is this normal? Does anyone else experienced the same?

Thank you and blessings to all!
