What did you do to help radiation burn?

Posted by cadunkin @cadunkin, Oct 24, 2022

After lumpectomy & lymph node removal (margins & nodes showed no cancer) I had 15 rounds or radiation in 3 weeks. At the end of treatment two weeks ago I developed a rash on my chest from the radiation. It’s very red & itches like crazy, which makes it hard to sleep. I’m using over the counter cortisone cream & Aquaphor for the dryness. Has anyone had success with other ways to treat this while waiting for it to heal? This site has helped me tremendously so thank you to everyone!

Yes, fresh aloe gel from a leaf. Score it on the sides, take skin off and cut into blocks to put in fridge.
To sleep, Lily of the desert 99% aloe vera gel.
Apply the fresh or Lily every 20-30 minutes.
Every day radiated and after, at least a week.
I have Absolutely no burn. Skin like a baby.

cadunlin,

My radiation oncologist recommended My Girls Skin Cream, and it really helped. I had breast cancer twice and I used it both times after radiation treatment. You can order it online.

Very sorry that you are experiencing rash and discomfort . I can imagine how uncomfortable that is.

Barbara O Neill • Free You Tube episodes are available on You Tube.

Many hospitals offer • Pain Specialist MDs and they should be able to offer prescriptions. They would be knowledgeable about any potential Drug Interaction,( which is very important) and order Safe Medications.

Certain Academic Meducal Center Hospitals offer Alternative Medicine MD’s . ( Harvard- possibly Deaconess or Mass General in Boston, Mass) • Telehealth is now approved for many Academic Medical Centers.

I hope the discomfort is relieved soon.

Best
