Prostate minimally, invasive procedures help

Posted by anthony11021 @anthony11021, 13 hours ago

Hello, 73-year-old with symptomatic BPH. I cannot take any alpha-blockers (Flomax, etc.) due to severe side effects – sinus congestion, dizziness, and they dangerously slow my urine flow. I also cannot take nasal steroids or oral antihistamines for the same reason. I have no medical "bridge" to help me through a long recovery.

I recently had a cystoscopy and TRUS, which led to urinary retention and a Foley catheter. That experience has made me very cautious about my next step.

I am now researching minimally invasive procedures and trying to decide between:

· PAE (Prostatic Artery Embolization)
· Aquablation
· TURP (traditional)
· UroLift (though I've read mixed results)

I am scheduled for a UroCuff test on June 15 to determine if my bladder muscle is strong enough to benefit from surgery.

For those of you who have had any of these procedures:

1. How was your recovery, especially the first few days to weeks?
2. Did you need to take Flomax or other meds during recovery?
3. Would you choose the same procedure again?

Thank you for any insights you can share.
Anthony
