Plugging tear gland.
I have dry eyes. I have been having a bad time with them lately. Besides using restassis and other eye drops for a long time, my eye doctor prescribed a steroid. It has helped a lot, but the doctor wants me to have my tear glands plugged. I am not too keen on that. Lately, all the procedures I have had done have not worked out well. Has anyone had this done? Thanks for any info you can give.

Hi Ryman! I have chronic dry eye, Sjogren’s Syndrome and blepheritis. Add them all together and my eyes are miserable. I had been using Restasis twice a day and a lubricating gel drop four times a day, with no real improvement. About three months ago I had punctal plugs put in both eyes. I believe they may be helping a slight bit. Having them put in was not a big deal and was just done sitting in the ophthalmologist’s office. There was no pain at all, just a bit of pressure. Afterwards it took a couple of weeks for the feeling of something being there to go away. I’d say the worst part is having to be careful to not rub your eyes a lot. Hope this helps!
Thank you. It does help. I still haven’t decided . I am having so much trouble and it seems like any procedures I have done don’t go well.
