Persistent Muscle Twitches throughout Body
For about 2 months now, I've had persistent muscle twitches. They started in my right hand, and now they occur regularly in my legs, hands, arms, and occasionally in my face, shoulders, and torso. I went to my primary care place, and they referred me to a movement disorder neurologist. I'm scheduled for an appointment there in January 2024. I've asked them to keep me on a cancellation list in case any earlier appointments become available.
I'm worried about the muscle twitches being an early symptom of a serious condition. I have trouble sleeping at night, partly because of the twitches, and partly just from constant worry and anxiety. The muscle twitches are worse at night when I'm lying in bed, and also when I'm quietly sitting down reading or watching television. I don't notice them so much when I'm actively moving around during the day, walking, swimming, gardening, etc.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this ? What was the diagnosis ? Thanks for any help that you can provide.

I still have strong fasciculations in my legs but have learned to live with them. Knowing that they are benign put me at ease. Thanks for asking.

1 ReactionJust to tell my story as its strange and similar to many here. Was pretty stressed for the last 1.5 years and in November I had my first kidney stone and the stress of initially not knowing what it was plus the pain put me over the edge. A few nights later, my big toe started moving when relaxed. It stopped a few weeks later but then it seemed i had random twitches moving around my body. They didn't keep me away but of course the stress of what it may be did. The doctors of course didn't have an answer and I had a Neg EMG result. Now I just have twiching in my calfs and right eye intermittently . I'm on Gabapentin and it seems to help even though it makes me tired. More stress and being tired definity makes it worse. It easily becomes a cycle and then add health anxiety to it and its a powder keg. I did have covid and and one vaccine shot years ago. Its almost like PTSD from what I experianced and my brain snapped while my nerves are in overload mode.
