Persistent Muscle Twitches throughout Body
For about 2 months now, I've had persistent muscle twitches. They started in my right hand, and now they occur regularly in my legs, hands, arms, and occasionally in my face, shoulders, and torso. I went to my primary care place, and they referred me to a movement disorder neurologist. I'm scheduled for an appointment there in January 2024. I've asked them to keep me on a cancellation list in case any earlier appointments become available.
I'm worried about the muscle twitches being an early symptom of a serious condition. I have trouble sleeping at night, partly because of the twitches, and partly just from constant worry and anxiety. The muscle twitches are worse at night when I'm lying in bed, and also when I'm quietly sitting down reading or watching television. I don't notice them so much when I'm actively moving around during the day, walking, swimming, gardening, etc.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this ? What was the diagnosis ? Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Hey, did you ever find out what was going on? I have similar symptoms and they are driving me crazy and scaring me. Saw a neurologist and have a brain and spinal cord MRI scheduled for later this month.
@happybunny2025 SAME!!! 3 weeks up to today (10/10/2025) of muscle twitching all over the body randomly at rest. I have some muscle tensions too. Not weakness. Not atrophy. I hate them!!!
I have no answers.
@moconnor166 Are you still twitching today? I started with lower left eyelid too, then it spreads out all over the body and face. Everyday. Only occur when my muscles are at rest/when I don't exert or tense my muscles. Sometimes, it causes muscle tension/tightness. Not cramp, not spasm, and no weakness. I absolutely despise this! It's been 5 weeks for me! How can I deal with this??? I have yet a 2nd appointment with my PCP and will ask her to refer me to a neurologist for further diagnostic test. All my blood work came back completely normal, including Creatine Kinase.
I have had this on and off for 20 years. Most likely BFS. Remember if you have anything at all that is seriously it usually presents weakness.
