One distraction from feeling miserable

Posted by Merry, Volunteer Mentor @merpreb, Feb 23, 2019

Hello All- Just after I got home from one of my cancers, about 5 or so years ago I ran across a post and video about Bald Eagles- A live cam showing real live eagles going about their daily life. This is the Decorah Eagles and since that time they have become world famous. It distracted me so much that, although my activities were limited because I was recovering, my mind wasn't as depressed because I was taking a break from myself! I believe that we need to get away from thinking about what's going on with ourselves.
So without further ado I'd like to introduce the Decorah Eagles. I can fill in information if you have questions. https://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams/
I have been watching them for about 5 years and I love them! Right now the female laid her first egg of the year and the male bird (DM2) is on the nest.
You can also watch it on you tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIEUiJaMPQ4
I hope that this helps and that you will fall in love with these beautiful Eagles

@alamogal635- Good afternoon and I too welcome you to Mayo Connect. I am also a lung cancer survivor. What type of lung cancer do you have? I understand the fear and anxiety you feel. Are you getting out and walking? Is your breathing ok and you can do this? Do you have any questions that I can help with? I'm here for you! Depression and anxiety are a pain to have but they go hand in hand with finding out that you have cancer.
I'd love for you to join the lung cancer group: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/lung-cancer/ There have been many topics discussed and feel free to chime in because that's what Connect is all about! Let me know about the questions.

@alamogal635- May I suggest that you put a persons name in when you are responding to a post because there are thousands of posts a week and I get very confused! lol. Thanks! I put the eagles on first thing every morning and watch them on and off throughout the day. We are waiting for egg #2!
