combining 1 miligram Lorazepam with 600 mg Gabapentin 60 mg Duloxetine
I retired as an electrician about 11 years ago, developed neuropathy in my feet and was given 900 mg of Gabapentin, and 60 mg of Duloxetine, which knocked me out but helped, fast forward to about 6 months ago,I went down to 600 Gaba, and cut out the Duloxetine with no impact.A prostate cancer diagnosis kicked up anxiety significantly and I was given a prescription for 1mg of Lorazepam, which I take every four days,to avoid diminished effectiveness and dependency.I am at 74 concerned about withdrawl issues with duloxetine, but quality of life and family relationships are very important.Does anyone find themselves in a similar situation. I've been taking higher doses of all 3 of those meds for different reasons for several years now, 3600mg of gabapentin, 1.5mg of lorazepam, and 120mg of duloxetine every day. What exactly are you worrying about?
@mrmacabre Thank You for responding,I am taking my 6th dose of Duloxetine today, this is my second go round with Duloxetine combined with gabapentin, not so great so far,but not a surprise.Rather than bail out and pursue something else,I am going to keep with the program. At my age I am prepared to make this a routine till the end.I am worrying about it not helping,I am taking 60 milligrams, any thoughts?

1 Reaction@sparky1951 How much did your doctor prescribe? What kind of side effects are you dealing with?
@sparky1951 I take 90mg Cymbalta and 300mg Gabapentin. I’ve reduced the Gabapentin because the Cymbalta was increased and that works well for me. I find it causes less drowsiness and weight gain compared to the Gabapentin.
@katcollins I am now on 60 mg of Duloxetine. I have a major taste issue and have a lot of anxiety but the gabapentin which I tried first did not help. The duloxetine has helped a little but I am thinking of asking my doctor to up it to 90 mg. Do you take it in divided doses? The rheumatologist said that adding gaba to the duloxetine and trying them together won't help for my type of issue. My problem is that I have dry mouth too so not sure added more duloxetine will cause more issues than it helps!!
@mrmacabre Good morning and thanks for your thoughts.About 12 years ago I was prescribed 900 milligrams of Gaba, and 60 milligrams of Duloxetine, not a word was mentioned about dependency or withdrawl. the combo put me to sleep for a couple of weeks but did take the edge off.Not being very sophisticated with a laptop,I never looked into these issues,I just took the pills every day,I thought Duloxetine was just a light weight additive to the Gaba,so I found myself treating myself for major depression and anxiety without even knowing it,I am the anxious type,I didnt recognize how it made me feel at the time, because I wasnt informed
I hope its okay if I continue my story here.About 3 years ago I developed non threatening Prostate cancer, and was given 1mg of Lorazepam by a responsible team, that treats a lot of seniors, maybe a year ago I quit Duloxetine, with no sides that I recall, but anxiety came roaring back,I found myself really living every four days with 1mg of Lorazepam,I took one and felt like myself,I soon learned the anxiety comes roaring back the next day.I resumed the Duloxetine on 3/2 and had some dark days and nights, before starting I lost 40 pounds.Yesterday a little sunshine came in,I take the Lorazepam every 4 days
