@eve welcome to this wonderful group I can suggest an old remedy Pickle juice or have some mustard for its the vinegar that will relieve the cramps .Do you take Magnesium?This is not only good for cramps but for the body Our bodies loves minerals of all kind ,calcium,mag.and potassium For me I do this faithfully in a good Vitamin-Mineral. Take an Epsom salts soak in bathtub,or just with a washcloth .Hope this helps some See a Dr for more information. Right now you can make a vinegar-water dilution in sink ,wring out a washcloth and hold it On legs till it starts to get cool then do same on other leg hopefully this will start to give you some relief this helps me with let cramps Blessings to you

A Dr. said put on long -warm socks. If I wear too short a sock -I'll be cured where the sock hits. Above that, the cramp still annoys.

Hi Eve, I have early lag cramp as my morning calls! I know one thing that will bring on the cramp is if my blanket is stretched too tight on my feet! I always loosen the top sheet and the blanket so they don't touch my feet! Also, I massage my legs and feet in bed before I fall asleep! Sometimes, I suffer from pinched nerve on top of my right foot, like an electric shock that kept me up all night. It usually lasted 24 hours, but during the day I can function without interruption! My primary doctor doesn't know the causes and didn't offer any remedies! I also drink powder Turmeric tea with a touch of black pepper.

pinched nerve on top of my right foot, like an electric shock…….That sounds like my neuromas, so painful that if I did not have cruise control -I could not drive myself to a dr. Podiatrist injected me w something right into where the pain is on top of foot. Then pain is gone. If I got them more frequently then would have gotten surgery to take them out.

Lioness, That you for your information, I will see m Neurologist 7/11. I know that I have peripheral neuropathy. I don't know if that causes it or not. Also, I have a very bad back and there is nothing they can do. I don't know if that is a cause. I also have restless legs. So I have several things that might contribute.

Whenever I feel a leg cramp. Then I take them off – it's been awhile since I have had a cramp.

@hista
O this topic so close to my heart!!! I kinda wish I had a “UNLIKE” button!! I speak from merely as a current sufferer of years of debilitating muscle cramps!! See by many many wonderful specialists and not so special doctors and health care facilities. I have tried ALL OF THE ABOVE! For me non prevail at keeping them from coming back. My current medical team has taught me some techniques to keep me from calling 911 everyday. When my cramps start they quickly move to multiple muscle groups until I am completely paralyzed and unable to move. Takes hours and hours to get them to release. Merely a mess.
What is a spasm/cramp….

Muscle spasm is the most common response of the body to stress.

Muscle spasm can occur as a response to emotional, psychological or physical stress. Common examples of physical stresses are traumas such as may occur in a fall, car accident, or a blow. Other less well-recognized examples include engaging in repetitive movements or "bad habits," such as sitting at a desk with slouched shoulders and head forward, sleeping on the side or on the abdomen with the head turned to one side, or holding the phone with the shoulder to the ear.
One of the most effective techniques for releasing muscle spasm is called Strain Counter Strain technique, also known as Positional Release, Or my physical therapist calls it “Finding the antagonist and anti-antagonist muscle groups.

I asked my doctor to refer me to a physical therapist to teach myself and my husband how to do these techniques and they have been my best self help techniques. They taught me techniques on how to prevent them as much as I can. Like changing positions frequently, limit my repetitions to prevent the muscle fatigue.

I pray your doctors find the right symptom control for you quickly.

Blessings & good luck at your upcoming appointment!

Hi @mari: Thanks for give it a name"neuromas", I feel better already! After reading "neuromas" on the internet, I'm not sure I have neuromas! My electric shock sensation is more on the top middle part of my right foot and not near the toes! Anyway, I'll remember the name and mention it to my primary doctor on my next annual wellness visit in May 2019!
Our bodies just have too many parts, more than a car, that can cause problems! I thought my old age worry is just about wrinkles!

@ew100 I had a neuroma between my 2-3 toe the foot Dr.is who took care of me they injected it told me to get a ball gel you where On your foot for a couple of days and it would be o.k. Haven't had trouble with it since.Dr.gave me a print out it's the nerve looks like it is bulged and pinched by , both sides of the bones causes it to hurt mostly on the bottom of foot in that area more so then on top.From your explanation it ,doesn't sound like a neuroma.But I'd suggest a Podiatrist if your PCP isn't sure if course if you don't see him for a whole year I'd suggest make an appointment with a foot Dr.Just my thoughts .good luck
