Neuropathy?

Posted by somanyquestions @somanyquestions, Mar 19, 2025

My feet feel like they have socks on, I don’t; my genitals feel prickly, burn; I am a little incontinent; my scalp itches always, I have very low vitamin B (had B-12 injection, taking sublingual oral pill). I am taking Creon for my pancreas dysfunction; I have controlled diabetes. I’ve been to a urogynecologist ( no definitive answer), neurosurgeon (nerves in spine are not damaged enough to cause). Is it some kind of neuropathy? Who should I see next? Thank you.

@corneliagd MD was informed, neither recommended nor not recommended it. 2. one CVS 600 mg. often if you buy one, the second bottle is 1/2 off. No side effects that I'm aware of. Seems to help a friend too. I also do twice a week Sanexas treatments which are covered by Medicare. Best wishes, G

@anargyrosm thank you very much for the answer. I will give a try for sure.
I would also like to try lidocaine cream (if a get a prescription) as I heard it could help.
Thanks one more time.

@anargyrosm make sure that it’s the R form of the ALA!

@corneliagd You can actually buy over the counter cream/lotion with 4% lidocaine. I use Aspercreme with lidocaine for my arthritis shoulder and hand pain. It might be worth a try.

@johnbishop thank you for your answer. I am looking for a prescription because of the 5% lidocaine content compared withe the OTC product 4%. The OTC one is also soooo expensive! If I get a prescription my insurance will cover 80%. Thank you one more time !

@julkun, Sorry julkun. I just guessed you may have drunk because most people with neuropathy are or have been drinkers. The alcohol numbs the billions of tiny villiing our intestine stopping absorbtion.

I think that my complete absence of pain of any sort at 84 yrs is due to my
always having high vitamin D. Even used to get measured monthly during my 6
tees .
Bye

@jamessaxo

Can you clarify what you mean by high vitamin D ? Because of supplements you take? When my vitamin D went high my doctor told me to stop.

@sbelur yes excess d causes hypercalcemia. Meaning too much calcium in blood. Only happens from supplements. I used to get mine measured monthly. Just money needed. Sunny climate means more d made in skin.
