NEED TO KNOW IF ANY STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER SURVIVORS?

I was diagnosed 18 months ago with stage 3 which very soon changed to Stage 4a. I was given what I understand to be the standard treatment- at U Miami-Yervoy and Optivo. Plus one session of chemo which wiped me out and was stopped. A few months later Cyramza was added and am still on it. After about 6 months my PET scan began to clear and 3 months ago was completely cleared. I have a repeat next week. My understanding is these new immunos can be very effective and I just follow the rules and show up on time when told to. I skipped 4 months Optivo and Yervoy last winter because of costs. So far I have been extremely lucky. I’m suffering with bad fatigue which I’ve been told comes from not eating enough protein.

From above. I’m 77 year old male. Smoked pack a day for 10 years back in the 60’s/70’s. Retired pediatrician. Not exposed to any toxins I know of

Hello @rlf66attnet, I was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in 2020, over 5 years ago. I have been treated with a targeted therapy which is still effective for me. Were you recently diagnosed with lung cancer?

My stage 4 lung adenocarcinoma came fifteen years ago. I have been living with this as a chronic disease.

@lls8000 I was diagnosed initially March 2024 after two months of persistent cough and severe fatigue

@rlf66attnet , With the recent clinical advances, 'Lung Cancer' is now known to include many different types of cancer. Knowing the specific type will help your oncologist to select the most appropriate treatment. I'm sorry that you are facing this. I know how scary it can be. There have been so many advances in treatments. The outlook for us is better than ever. There are more and more of us living longer, even with stage IV disease. Will you let us know what you learn at your appointment?

Have not gotten any answers fro oncologist as to what type I have and subsequent treatment.

@wgbethel when did u retire? what type of treatment did u take, what worked and what did NOT?
