muscle weakness from blood thinners like Eliquis

I have been taking Eliquis for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation Recently, I have experienced muscle weakness in my arms and knees. Has anyone experienced this type of issue

I looked up any side effects etc for Pradaxa….i know all meds have side effects, sometimes the possible side effects are worse than the ailment…
I’m so confused on what to do, it seems like my cardiologist strictly recommends the Eliquis or Warafin ( Which I’ve been on now for three weeks)
I had a heart attack and had two stents put in, but what I don’t understand is I know somebody who had a bypass and she was taking the warfarin For a year and then stopped it. The only thing she takes now for her heart is a baby aspirin….
The Eliquis ( very expensive) caused muscle weakness, especially in my legs. I have a hard time walking around, now on Warfarin I’m experiencing hair loss and stomach issues.

Im' 75 years old. It has taken me a long time to learn to be my own best advocate while interacting with physicians. I cannot advise any one as to how to respond. However, hopefully its permissible for me to share my experiences. I currently have a drug allergy "sensitivity" list that is 39 items long. For years I took whatever drug a physician suggested. I continuously suffered side effects and then very bad allergic reactions. Doctors ignored me when I complained. Eventually I began to suffer more serious side affects sending me to an allergist. Several reactions in testing proved my allergies. Other times I absolutely refused drugs I knew that would cause reactions. I had to learn to speak up to physicians and ask for other alternatives.
Find a primary care doctor who will listen. Ask your specialist to please have a serious conversation with you about your concerns over reactions. Speak to them respectfully acknowledging their education and knowledge. But, request that they allow your insights to be included in your care plan. I now tell physicians "I respect your position, your education and hard work to arrive where you are, but I live in this body."

Thank you for sharing your info..
I like my cardiologist doctor, but when it comes to trying to explain to her how I’m feeling, she blocks it out, Doesn’t believe certain meds create side effects.
Unfortunately, nowadays, if I wanted to get a second opinion its very very hard to get an appointment with a new doctor.

After my heart attack I was on both Eliquis and Plavix..
I was on Plavix for 6 months And then taken off of it. I thought I would only be on Eliquis for the first year, but I ended up having to be on it for 15 months and then told my cardiologist that I needed to get off it because of my stiffness and weakness in my muscles, especially my legs. I switched From Eliquis to Warfarin Which I’ve been on for three weeks and have side effects with that. I’m at a loss on what blood thinner I should try next or what my doctor will suggest..
