Metoprolol and when to a heart doctor he said I had aortic aneurysm

I have low pulse . I went to a heart doctor&he said I have aortic aneurysm and he gave me Metoprolol . Later I had to go to my family doctor and she said with my low pulse and anxiety that I shouldn’t be taking metoprolol. I have had a few bad side effects with my heart since I started taking it. I want to go off of meds but on the internet it said to get off of it gradually. I don’t see how it could hurt me by stopping immediately . This is what I’m planning on doing. Has anyone had this issue? Or know if I can stop immediately?

After surgery, I have been on metoprolol. I take the lowest dose prescribed morning and night due to heart rate issues (12.5 mg 2x day). I am also on olmasartin 20mg per day to maintain blood pressure. Metoprolol has other benefits that no other bp med has. It is general prescribed to people that have had heart attacks, aortic root surgery, bypass surgery etc.

I haven't had this issue, but my instinct tells me you should consult a doctor you trust before you do anything on your own. Express your concerns and get a full explanation. Just saying.

After surgery (aneurysm, dissection, a.root, a.valve) they put me on metoprolol. Three months after I started treatment for heart failure. I switched to bisoprolol. Over a year I began other hf drugs and a statin. I take 5 drugs as part of hf treatment and for the remaining dissection.
There is no consideration for ever stopping these meds. They are keeping me alive and my heart working at its best.

My pulse rate runs low in the mid 40 and that’s why I can’t take it & according to the internet and one of my doctors that it lowers blood pulse/ heart rate.

I have had hypothyroidism for a long time and have a low heart rate 55-58 as a result of that. Recently diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve and TAA. My cardiologist put me on metoprolol, and it reduced my heart rate farther 49-54. My cardiologist doesn't seem concerned, but I asked my GP (who had previously been managing my thyroid) for a referral to an endocrinologist. I'm hoping they can sort it out I go in in about a month. Has you heart rate always been low or did it change at some point?

I found that taking metoprolol was like taking a pill to cause depression. It was awful for me. I switched to losartan potassium.

I hadn't been taking it long, like a month, before I said I just couldn't do it. There didn't seem to be any fallout, for me, at that early stage from just going off it. But I got one losartan within a week or two.

I really feel better because I’m thinking if I would have stayed on it longer with my already slow heart rate maybe it could have damaged my heart worst. I just don’t understand what he was thinking?
