Lost my ability to sleep and other serious issues

Posted by hello123yes @hello123yes, Feb 5, 2022

Hi everyone,

Here’s my story in hopes that someone can help me.

Prior to Nov 25 I was taking Lions Manes mushroom and on the 25th I smoked marijuana which gave me a panic attack. Now I believe I developed Central Sensitization syndrome (due to lions mane increasing NGF which can lead to CSS under the right circumstances) due to this because that night of the panic attack I was wide awake and up all night. Now it’s like my body and mind won’t shut off. There’s too much activity in my nervous system.

Since that night I haven’t been able to sleep more than 1-2 hours per night even with a benzo. The past week I haven’t slept at all. I’ve been to the hospital and they couldn’t help me. It’s like my brain won’t shut off and there’s too much activity in it. It physically feels like I’m drinking coffee hourly which I’m not. This has all been happening for over 2 months after supplementing with Lions Mane and then having marijuana.

I’m not sure if the Lions Mane mushroom daily for 2 weeks then taking marijuana that one day had an adverse reaction with each other or not, but ever since the morning after I haven’t been the same sleep wise among other issues. The other issues I’ve been experiencing are internal vibrations for the past month, twitches in my neck, legs, and hands, diahrrea every day, sore legs, and disorientation. The internal vibrations worry me that I may have a neurological disorder. I have an appointment with a neurologist in two weeks. The main issue is I’m not sleeping at all, it’s like I’ve lost that ability.

I feel somehow the Lions Mane and marijuana could had given me brain damage because after Nov 25 I haven’t been the same person. I don’t know how or if this is true but my life has been turned upside with all my symptoms.

Does anyone know whether I might have a serious issue or how I can further look into why it appears I’ve lost my ability to sleep?

This is what I would consider….if you have the ability to go on a nature immersion retreat with fresh clean water no Wi-Fi or electronics, whole organic foods, no supplements or meds, silence except for nature sounds…you might be able to reset your brain.
Some meditation training as well.

I also have internal vibrations for over a year and also insomnia. My primary care doctor thinks it is anxiety and I should go on Paxil. My neurologist can’t explain the vibrations but prescribed Gabapentin for the insomnia. Does anyone take Gabapentin for sleep. I read the side effects and the two that scare me the most is with your vision (double vision and blurry vision) and memory problems. Has anyone had any side effects from taking this medication. Thanks for your input.

I've taken gabapentin for neuropathy. No issues. My neurologist thinks my internal vibrations are from an overactive central nervous system HOWEVER.....😊......Last night makes the 8th night in a row I haven't had vibrations. I use a cpap, nasal, for the minimum 4 hours just before going to sleep. I slept very well last night. I don't remember waking at all. ALSO.....I take beta blockers, was prescribed atenolol for years then ER doctor changed me to metoprolol. I ran out of metoprolol and started taking the old atenolol, have appt May 3rd, had to keep rescheduling and wound up running out, so it could be the atenolol that made vibrations subside but I've had them since 2019 and was on atenolol then. I still believe it's injury to phrenic nerve. It is amazing how many people have those and can't get answers.

Have you tried googling the side effects of that stuff? I've had internal vibrations since 2019 and my neurologist thinks it's from an overactive central nervous system. I think it's from injury to phrenic nerve. Last night makes 8 nights with no vibes. I use nasal cpap for minimum 4 hours before bed. The only time I had issues with insomnia is I didn't sleep for over 48 hours or eat for 5 days when I had withdrawals from stopping xanax suddenly. I haven't got a clue, only that there seems to be a lot of people with these vibrations and no answers.

How many mg of Gabapentin do you take. I did look up the side effects. They looked terrible so I am not sure if I should take them. She is giving it to me just for insomnia. I am getting used to the vibrations. I know that they are not serious now so I am just accepting it. My neurologist has no answers at all. I don’t think we will ever know why these are occurring.

My gabapentin is 400mg. I'll never get used to the vibrations because they wake me up when I do have them. It's so weird because I can lie on the bed and watch TV or movies (have big screen in bedroom) for 4 hours and not have the first vibration. They only occur AFTER I have been asleep. I have been keeping journal and rating them on scale of 1-10. I had them one night I thought one of my cats jumped on the bed and shook the bed and I woke up only to see it was me vibrating and at a level 10. I can place my hand on my side and actually feel the vibrations inside. There's got to be a common factor. People have them in different places. In their feet, their head, their chest, so many different. Mine is confined to my torso area but will move to pelvic area and every now and then be in my buttocks, especially if I wake and am on my back. Sometimes I can go back to sleep if they are a level 3 or less but anything above a 5 I have to get up before they go away. Very baffling. I'd love to be part of a clinical research about it. I told my doctor I wanted to know what was going on inside my body when I had them. Something is haywire and I just want to know. That's the reason I did the sleep study was to see if that would pick up anything. It only picked up mild sleep apnea. The heart monitor picked up nothing.

I know what you mean. I also would love to know what causes them. I just remember the first time that I got them, I thought that they were palpitations. Now I know they are not coming from heart. Do you take the Gabapentin for the overactive nervous system or for insomnia. Also when do you take it. I am still unsure if I am going to take it. THANKS.

Hi, I have had fibromyalgia for over 30 years now, and since I had most of my colon removed(not my choice), I now have also lost the ability to sleep, but the hypothyroidism that occurred from the surgery, is probably part of the culprit. I started gabapentin and it was up to 1,800 mg before I switched to pregabalin, which is basically the generic for lyrica. I started having these internal vibrations a few weeks ago, and it’s awful. It takes so much effort to do anything. Even typing is really hard now. I’m getting scared which probably doesn’t help. With no insurance, I work my health on a shoestring. I recently also started taking fluoxetine. I have no idea if they’re connected. I hope someone can give me some guidance. Thanks for all your help in advance.
