Can someone help me about life after AUS 800 implant?
This is my first question/post so please excuse me as I a new at this. I am 58 and have had an RP in October of 2023. My prostate was 155 grams and since the procedure I have been left essentially incontinent using 7-9 large pads a day. Although this has been difficult, I feel fortunate my psa has fallen to .008, a number my doctor tells me is considered undetected.
I have tried PT with very little results, my surgeon recommended an AUS, so this coming Monday I will have surgery to have this installed. I have read many of the posts within the prostate cancer section, but I am still curious about discomfort after the 5-6 week healing process and "regular activity like swimming, golf, and more strenuous activities like mowing and lifting firewood. I am of course second guessing my decision but would be appreciative of any feedback any of you have.

I guess whatever you're comfortable with. Just be gentle with the poor thing. And stay upright to let gravity to the work.

The actual cuff is at the base of the bladder, therefore, near the base of the penis. The 'reservoir balloon' is also tucked up and out of the way.
However, the squeeze 'button' should be accessible. If you have to pull it down gently to get it properly located so be it.
Mine was always fairly centered about mid-way down the scrotum. Yes, it was and is slippery in there but always able to easily fine and function.
Hope you can get this resolved without any more interventions.
@pmccharles you’re over a year out now. How’s it going? I’m an avid cyclist. How would an AUS impact my cycling? Would it keep me off the bike? Thanks.
@grandpun can you say more? I’m an avid cyclist. If I were to have an AUS, would it keep me off the bike? Now, I go through a pad every 1-2 hours, and I definitely don’t drink enough water. Thanks.
@lsk1000 sorry. Can you point me to your post in clamps? I have one from Amazon and it’s not really working for me. I do were it when I lift weights.
@geno2853 I don’t know where to look for past posts. No matter. Here’s the lowdown.
I tried a half dozen clamps for fit and efficacy and chose the best for me. I have been using the Wiesner clamp for 4 years. All clamps come with a disclaimer to use sparingly (2-3 hours). I believe this is for lability protection. My thought is if used incorrectly (ie. the lower pad with the bump is worn upside down which can compress the blood vessel on top instead of the urethra on the bottom) blood flow would be interrupted. I slowly increased the time worn and use the clamp 18-20 hours a day, making sure the clamp is not ratcheted to maximum tightness. I wear one Tena max pad a day to catch the small leaks. I also try to pee every three hours or less and change the location of the clamp each time just as a precaution. Hope you find one that works. For me this has been a better alternative than going through more surgery.

Just feel the Center of each clamp side. You will feel the protrusion sticking up from middle of the bottom portion. That’s the side with the longer edge, which you click the top into.
