Labile Hypertension?

Is Labile Hypertension the same as White Coat Syndrome ?
On my last Doctor appointment my blood pressure was almost 30 points higher than my home reading. This happens at pretty much every Doctor visit. I even brought my home BP device on a recent visit and it zoomed way up there too. My doctor didn’t think it was a big deal. But it bugs me because I really don’t feel that nervous during my visits. Thanks!

My experience with doctors offices and even hospitals is that those taking the blood pressure readings don't do it the proper way. They will talk to you, have your feet hanging off the examination table or, a myriad of other things that give a skewed reading. The proper way is to sit still with your feet flat on the floor for 5 minutes before they take it. They are also supposed to take it in both arms to any substantial difference in the reading. It is up to patients to insist that it be done the right way if the ratings are to be accurate.

@chuckiepoo1 Good points. That’s been my experience too. Soon after walking into the office the nurse plops me down on the table and quickly takes a single reading. They seem to have such tight schedules that they just want to get it done and go on to the next thing.
