1 Reaction@birgitr You are absolutely right. I just wish I had been on this path earlier.
Besremi is not available in Australia so it's Pegasys. She also alluded to other upcoming treatments that would be available in the not too distant future, so that is very promising.
I had my blood tests today - 9 vials to test for a number of things. My BMB is booked for 10th June. I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks for your wishes. We had an island holiday booked for July but sadly, had to cancel. I guess in hindsight, starting HU and staying out of the sun on an island would have been a bit of a challenge!
It's great to hear your side affects have been so minimal, not so great about your blood numbers. Wishing you good luck tomorrow and hoping that your issue can be managed successfully.
Let me know how you go, Kathy.

You are an inspiration to me (just had my 79th birthday) and was allowing my self to feel old. Thanks for the inadvertent encouragement.

This is great, I'm so glad I found you. It did two things for me,
one: started taking the sun thing a bit more seriously (though I still have a glass of red wine everyday) and
two: I no longer feel alone with the HU and/or ETJAC2. When I start to describe it to my friends their eyes glaze-over. 🙂

Wow, keep up the great work!!!
@jodyjazz
As they say, 90% of people don't care if you have medical problems . . . and the other 10% may be glad.
But on this forum -- we do care and we do help one another!

1 ReactionEveryone reacts differently, but I had a bmb last year.
The doctor explained the procedure before he performed it. The staff gave me a light sedation.
Before I knew it, the procedure was over.
I expected a great deal of pain in the area....there was very little discomfort. Taking a Tylenol brought the discomfort down to nothing.
I believe having an experienced doctor with the right tools makes all the difference. Hope this info encourages anyone facing the procedure.

3 Reactions@gigi05 What would you like to know? It is Zolodronic Acid, IV infusion that takes about 30 minutes. It is one of those drugs that is associated with jaw fractures. I could swear my primary dr said it wasn't one of those when I started it 2 years ago. I haven't had any reactions or side effects that I was conscious of. But have realized my issues with swallowing and GERD started about the same time I started the Zolodronic.

2 Reactions@kc7adk54 Thank you for sharing this. And sorry you had to undergo that. I was just curious, as I had not heard about infusions for osteoporosis. I used to take a bone formula tablet, then stopped that bc I was concerned about calcium getting deposited in arteries (eventhough I was also taking vit K with it), and now looking into taking some supplements again in addition to making sure I am getting enough calcium from my diet as my latest bone density test revealed I had osteopenia.
