Does anyone have any suggestions on increasing bone density thru diet and not drugs at post menopause.

I was sent to a osteoporosis specialist. He ordered me to start taking bisphosphonates. I refused and walked out.
I started on a plant based whole grain diet, low sugar and low salt diet, walk daily and started a strength exercises with lifting weights every other day. My bone density T scores changed dramatically for the better. I started to not just stabilize but lay down new bone! My new Mayo PCP was so delighted and became my cheerleader! Go online and put your scores in for your age and ethnicity for a FRAX score. It changed my life and gave me hope and I am no longer osteporosic. Also I found myself no longer had high BP and my PCP took me off all medication! I am 67 years old. Santay Gupta MD in new book Keeping Sharp says I’m going to have less chance of Alzheimer’s and live longer too!

Getting enough vitamin C, both through diet and through supplements, has been found to be beneficial for bone health. I prefer to take a very low dose by splitting tablets or pouring a small amount out of a capsule to take with food.

"Epidemiological studies also indicate the positive effect of high vitamin C content in the daily diet on bone mineral density."
When I want to see how much vitamin c or other nutrients are in a specific food, I often turn to nutrient-tracking websites like cronometer or myfooddata.com
