I was just diagnosed with an AAA measuring 6cm x6.2cm

As stated in the subject line, a CTA shows an AAA of 6cm x 6.2cm. I have not met with a surgeon yet. Should I be pursuing surgery immediately? I understand surgery is recommended but how urgent is my situation?

I would see a surgeon right away. Whoever sent you for the test should have advised you the same after giving you the results. I hope this gets taken care of soon, and that all goes well.

@suzie71 thank you for the advice and well wishes. My cardiologist arranged an appointment for me and I did see the surgeon on Monday (12/8). He said I am a candidate for the EVAR procedure which is good news. Hoping to get surgery scheduled before Christmas.

This has been a scary couple of weeks! Thank you for your input

Mine was 6.3 cm & took all the pre-surgical tests in 2 weeks.
The EVAR went great. Two small scars in the groin area. No pain for me. Out of hospital was 28 hours.
Recovery for me was 6 weeks. Back using light weights 3 days a week. Everyone is different.
You made the right call. EVAR IS BETTER THAN OPEN SURGERY.
Merry Christmas & Good Health in the future. 🙏

@maverick1791 Merry Christmas! I am hoping to have the experience and recovery you have had! Going into surgery on 12/17 (only 3 days now). Were you in the hospital for just 1 night?

I went into the hospital at 8:30 AM on Wednesday & drove home on 1 PM Thursday. Yes I did drive home 28 hours after entering the hospital. No pain, No pain
killers 😄
The first thing I did when I got home was to make a healthy breakfast.
Hospital food is, well you know 😖
Just a quick note: I wore auto compression socks on both legs to prevent blood clots. They expand & contract every 10 seconds. They did not help me to sleep but it did its job.
If they don’t put them on you, ask why not?
