Lula, what made you decide to have a single mastectomy instead of a double? Are you concerned that the cancer may reappear in your other breast later? I am trying to decide which way to go. But, I don’t want to go through this process ever again.
I didn’t think about it until i learned other women had a double mastectomy and how convenient it must have been to not worry about getting reconstruction or wearing a prosthesis. I have a friend thats breastless, she gives wearing t-shirts a whole different meaning..but yes absolutely I would have if I would have known then what I know now..

Did you have a bone scan? Every time I have another test ordered I think the worst. I’m pretty frazzled today.
Hi Nancy u will be fine.. Yes I had a bone scan. They are just being thorough; it is for your good so relax and be positive and keep the faith..this journey is like a nightmare, but when it’s all over, u wake up and say WoW that wasn’t bad after all..be encouraged u will be fine..Godbless. Also, I was reading our previous msgs and I noticed on Jul 25 I said I had 50 babies. I meant 50th bday lololol;)
Thank you for your encouragement. I got through the bone scan ok. Probably going to have surgery the first week of October. I’m keeping the faith!!!

Hello, everyone, I go tomorrow for an MRI of my right breast, A few weeks ago my right nipple became inflamed and was full of puss, I managed to bite the bullet long enough to force most of it out, it began to feel better but there was still something wrong. I made an appointment to see a breast specialist who checked my prolactin, it came back high normal, she noticed that my nipple was inverting and now wants an MRI to rule out cancer. My mammogram didn’t show anything that raised a red flag. Do you think I need to be worried or is this just something that happens. How would I know if it has spread to my lymph nodes? would there be swelling, would I have trouble swallowing. My Dr. also wants to do more blood work, so maybe the results will show what’s going on. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? I am a Christian and I know God is watching over me.Are there any other tests that I should ask for? And last be not least, if it turns out that I am positive, what are the chances that I have caught it in time? Thank you in advance..
Hi Jeanie. I can imagine you must be worried. Luckily your health care team is getting things done, and remember the MRI is to rule out cancer. These symptoms could be many things. Here some information from the American Cancer Society to help you prepare for your MRI.

Jeanie: Do you have a lump in your breast as well as the other symptoms you describe? When is your MRI?
Jeannie: I do have breast cancer. (Metastatic breast cancer – totally a different animal from “regular” breast cancer.) None of the symptoms you have but about two years after I was diagnosed, I found a lump in my left breast. Had a mammogram and ultrasound – not cancer just a “fat deposit” – not a medical term but mine. I took a deep breath and went home. Best wishes – think positive and good things will happen.
today I was told I had breast cancer. Where do I go from here ? What is the best hospital or doctor ? I’m just beginning and am totally lost. Need support and information. Thanks.
