After radiation
Hi all you incredible women,
I am 5 months out of 25 sessions of radiation after lumpectomy for ILC with 6 nodes removed. I am wondering what residual side effects every one might be having. I have a tightness that I haven’t had before and just a basic awareness of the area affected. Anyone else? Is this normal?
Thanks in advance.
MJ

I had the same tightness all I did was stretch. I also did massages in that area to loosen it up.

3 ReactionsI have a real tightness and my breasts still look ugly with some redness and bruising. I use the Aquaphor 3 X a day. I keep stretching my arms up the wall as the MD suggested...doesn't seem to help...but I constantly stretch. I am really fatigued....almost in a cloud. I have finished 10 of 33 plus 5 sessions of radiation. The MD feels as though I will have skin issues as I have "delicate" skin. Still have a happy outlook and keep trying......with a smile.

1 ReactionDoes anyone use anything else but Aquaphor....I am using it 3X a day.
I used Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera 100% Gel, which worked very well for me. After 16 treatments, I did not have redness or burning. I took it with me and put it on before I got dressed after every radiation treatment, in addition to applying it several times a day. I also used Aquaphor, but I found that to be greasy.

1 ReactionI used Calendula gel. Wouldn't say it worked for me. Used mometesone prescription for rash. Had some burns and discoloration. All gone now after 2 1/2 months. I was sent to a physical therapist that dealt only with breasts. She's great. She is working on fibrosis ,bands of scar tissue and helping with range of motion. All are helping me not feel so tight and restricted. Ask your surgeon if they have a specialist who deals with this.
Get a prescription for Silver Sulfadiazine from your doctor. It’s wonderful.
