Anyone get DIEPflap reconstruction w/mastectomy and Medicare?
I’m going in for a mastectomy (left side) and would like diepflap surgery to reconstruct but the plastic surgeon says it’s not covered under Medicare. Has anyone had luck with this?

Since everyone's policies can vary, I suggest you contact Medicare or your Medicare Advantage insurer to ask about coverage. Also, contact the billing dept at your clinic/hospital about coverage. Medicare will not cover cosmetic procedures, but if medically necessary, related to a mastectomy, it could be covered.
A few years ago, there were discussions about dropping coverage, but that change was never enacted. But things can change, so always best to contact the insurer directly.
