I have leakage around the sides of my incontinence pads .6
I am 74 and quite active. I have had surgery, RT after recurrence and then more Rt and hormonal therapy after spread. The Teena incontinence pads that I use leak around the sides when i exercise or lift the grandkids. And now i
am staining chairs when i sit without even knowing. The adhesive is not good and they tend to crumple up.
Is there a better pad or will pull ups be better?

Here is the 100% fix for leak issues with pads. Wear a jock strap. It has worked 100 percent of the time for me. I have no leaks at all. None. Zero. It's that simple.
No one likes jock straps. But, leaks are worse.
I was running into leak problems when sitting and the pad would shift around or during activity when my pad would slip out of place.... or my private was out of alignment. With the jock strap, I've had no problems at all.
I ordered these relatively cheap ones on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WN3SQHJ This brand runs small, so order a size up. I ordered large (I weigh 205) and they work perfect. You still want them to fit snugly, but not enough to make a tenor into a soprano.
Things I've learned: I still need to wear a pair of underwear over the top of the jockstrap because in summer your backside does sweat and it will show up on shorts with a bare butt and a jock strap. A pair of underwear takes care of this issue.
It is so liberating to not to have to worry about clothing leaks. Hope this helps!!

This is my next try.
Seems like a real answer.
I really do appreciate everyone’s responses.
Certainly is no fun to be dealing with this.
I agree with Surftohealth
I never really got into Jockey underwear but they hold things in place much better so I am now using them more.
I also spend as much time as possible with my grandchildren and that is wonderful but brings some very special challenges to incontinence that I doubt research and many PTs can capture.
Carrying two; one in each arm because of injuries or being asleep,
being on the ground and being 'attacked' suddenly,
one or two that love climbing on top of you or pulling your head and neck up,
] bending over to find toys under a couch,
pushing two at a time on swings.
then they want to put their fingers in my nose, mouth and ears.
It is funny and fun and I would not trade it for anything however the challenges to incontinence are significant. I do not think enough 'knacks' have been invented yet
Picture this: I took two older ones on a canoe--fishing-crabbing trip off some tidal water on the Eastern Shore just yesterday. I was the paddler in a very big canoe we came back to shore up a little creek in low tide. I had to get out several times to push us off the shallows; at the end where we tied up I got out and sank almost to my shoulders in muck; not sure there is a Kegel Knack for that
I hate incontinence but at this point I will keep finding ways to enjoy time with the grandchildren and it seems the cancer is on hold for now not a trade I had expected but I guess it is the price to pay at this point

Are you saying put a pad inside the jock strap or you use no pad at all?
I'm replying to the start of this topic!
Been there done that got the male Diaper! : )
I'm 11 weeks out of RP surgery. My doctors are great... but they all said don't worry give it time. See me in 6 months and we can talk next steps! What!!!! Fast forward until July. After months of my own research and here (thanks you Mayo Clinic support group). I am now going to a PT specializing in men with prostate surgery. She is excellent. I would recommend at least starting PT. It should encouraged for every patient.
The incontinence issue (first of several) is very frustrating. I agree with all of you that all brands are inadequate for anything other than a drop or 10. This is a great link for this topic: https://nafc.org
They recommend NorthShore male diapers as better than all the others. I could have really used they the first month. I leaked through 4 different brans I tried, and yes it's all about the angled a tight fit.
I'm still having issues, despite 6 sets a day of long and short Kegel's, bridge Kegel's with ball. I'm currently reviewing my diet, and considering changes to that. My PT person claims with these changes I should be dry (?) at 4 months. to 6 months. If you are just starting down this road you could also try: https://zerocancer.org

Good Luck to all!

1 Reaction@rruben02 I thought about trying this, but I'm looking at a long term fix. Wearing a jock strap is not what I want to wear the rest of my life!!!! How long have you been doing this? JS was never really comfortable when I used them for sports. Thanks for the info!
I appreciate all post on this website/support group! It's not everywhere we can all talk about our pants down! ROFL
I read all of your comments. I've been dealing with incontinence for 10 years since my prostectomy. I recovered after the operation about 90%. Then 3 months later, after proton radiation, I experienced 100% loss of control and never recovered. I'm all kegeled out. I've tried every pad, device, pull up, etc. that Amazon sells. Nothing works 100%. I've found that if I use a Depends max pull ups along with a Depends max pad nested in the pull up, I experience the least amount of leakage. Don't pull all of the paper off from the back of the pad. Just remove about 3/4 of an inch and stick that to the inside of the pull up. That way you can change pads until they fill up and use the pull up until it's soiled. The adhesive on the pad will eventually tear the padding on the pull up. I go through about 35 pull ups and 150 pads per month. The VA will only provides 102 pads per month and no pull ups. I'm waiting until my Radiation Cystitis heals up enough to have an artificial valve installed. I try to not worry about leaking. I'm an old Boy Scout, "Be Prepared". I carry a "leak bag" in the car with a change of pants and extra pads and pull ups, etc. wherever I go. Just figure out how to deal with it.

1 ReactionI am so sorry to hear what you have had to endure the last 10 years. It sounds so difficult snd terrible that the VA can not cover what you need. But you are a trooper and do not give up.
Pretty amazing.

So true.
This group is great!
@rruben02 Pad inside the jockstrap for sure! Sorry if I didn't make that clear. 🙂
The jock strap holds the pad in place really well-much better than underwear unless you wear some serious tightie tight whities.
