how do you know which is best for you HRT or Bio-identicals ?
I am 56yr old and have been post menopause for 7 yrs. I am recently have been told osteoporosis of spine (lower end of scale) and cognitive issues. Primary mentioned talking to my GYN regarding HRT in hopes of it helping. I understand the difference between HRT & bio-identical (since I prefer more natural over synthetics meds) . I have an appt with a PA in my gyn office next week but I'm wondering if I should look for a Dr on bio-identical.
ANY guidance or questions I need to ask or testing needed, will be greatly appreciated. I know that not having estrogen can't affect the brain and many other parts of body. I have recently had test that shows inflammation in brain and higher percentage of me getting Alzheimer.
We only get 1 body and what we feed it can make things worse or heal it. I'm looking to heal 🙂
thank you in advance

Have you had any luck finding someone yet? I know it can be very frustrating.
I have an appt with a PA that works with my GYN next week. I will see what she has to say, as I am still collecting information on web, talking to people (Mayo Connect one of the 🙂 Nothing seems cut/dry in decision making whats best for me (ourselves). I have been watching videos of Drs discussing hormones and natural ways to manage.
I am my best advocate 🙂

Good luck with the appointment. Will you let us know what happens?
I don't know what kind of bioidentical vaginal cream there would be. Compounded Estradiol vaginal cream is gentler on my skin as are Vagifem and Imvexxy. Imvexxy can be expensive if insurance is hesitant to cover it.
When I was in my early 40s, Emerita Progesterone cream did help me feel better. I rub it on now at 49 but it isn't anywhere near as helpful to me as oral Progesterone.

1 Reaction@gravity3 , I hope to get in with a new gynecologist, as it’s about a year since last visit. This last year has been very hectic for me. Family issues, caregiving, working…. Hopefully soon.

1 ReactionI am 58 and 8 years post menopausal. I started HRT five years ago. It has been life changing in so many ways. The brain fog and fatigue are gone, the menopausal weight went away, and my chronic anxiety decreased. I also started thyroid meds, and take testosterone, estradiol and progesterone. I feel like I did in my 40s

2 Reactions@lisag03 , did a gynecologist or endocrinologist prescribe your HRT?
@celia16
No I go to see a Nurse Practitioner at a Hormone Center. I pay out of pocket for the meds and hormones. Insurance covers the labs and a portion of the visit and I only have to see her twice a year.

Hi! I’m so grateful that I came across your post, not to mention the fact that you’re willing to help or advise.
I’m in Desoto County and desperately need a physician that can help me with this. I have done so much research that now it’s all discombobulated.
I would be so grateful for any advice or suggestion as to find someone that actually listens and wants to help.
Thanks so much,
Phyllis
