High CAC score now lower

Posted by tlclimo @tlclimo, 1 day ago

3 years ago I had a heart scan. 2230 was the score. Visited a star Cardiologist and put me on nebivolol 5mg and raised my dose of crestor. Also on valsartan for BP.
Last week, went in for another CAC scan. 1600
Cardiologist says looks about the same. Continue with same regimen for meds.
Been working out a little every day 67 1/2 years old. Also about 20 minutes treadmill or 6k steps daily. Treadmill 2.1 mph.
Has anyone experienced a reduction in their score? Take daily vitamin K2 and co q 10 supplements.

@celia16 it seems in my blood work except for my borderline High hematocrit has always been in the green I guess I have just had a bad lifestyle or hereditary. I did take calcium supplements unadvised thinking they were going to be good for me for many years. I doubt if that had anything to do with it

@tlclimo , that’s interesting. I suppose I was feeling rather comfortable since my cholesterol has been between 100-120 for the last 8 years and also low for many years before that. Still, I’m not sure how I would change anything if CAC score were high, since I already live as I am high risk…..tight diet, exercise, statin, low sodium, maintain BP, monitor labs, etc. I guess I’m scared of the unknown. I’ve had a lot on my plate over the last year….not sure I want one more thing to deal with. Think I’ll put it off until next year.

@celia16 that might be all we can do. High risk I think they may just be waiting for an event to happen before action is taken

@tlclimo , my dad collapsed during stress test in his 60s. Catheterization revealed 80% blockages. He immediately had quadruple bypass, 4 stents over the next 15 years and lived for many years into his late 80’s with no cardiac problems. And he didn’t die from cardio issues. His experience actually encourages me.
