Hi. I’m new to the site and am interested in treating osteoperosis. I’m 39 yo and recently had a bone density that showed I’m at -2.4. So, going through the intial “I can’t believe it” stuff. 🙂
Hi Everyone in june 2017 a had a leg fracture simply by stepping wrong foot and i am scared that i have osteoporosis and my weight is 83 kg i am so scared because when i googled for osteoporosis i found out that it has no cure and i cant go for test i am very poor i dont know what to do
Hello @ujeeniack
That is very good advice. Bone density scans are good for both males and females. My father had osteoporosis and it was diagnosed in his 70’s so it can happen to men even though it seems more common in women. Have you started any kind of treatment or exercise program?

Hello again @ujeeniack
You might also ask your doc to look into the functioning of your parathyroid (not the same as thyroid). When you have hyperparathyroidism, your calcium levels will be high in your blood and your bones will have less calcium (this is purely a lay person’s interpretation). Here is a website that will help explain it, http://www.parathyroid.com/osteoporosis.htm.

I do 2 miles on a treadmill 3 days a week followed by 6 resistance machines 30 reps and 2 days a week I do a 1 mile walk up and down the neighborhood hills. I plan to gradually extend that to 2 miles. It’ll be a bit.

Age has little to do with it. I fractured my T9 vertebrae lifting my arms over my head. I was 35. You should get a borderline DEXA scan. I totally understand. I broke my clavicle reaching quickly for the phone, broke 2 ribs sneezing.
