Has anyone used Mucomyst (acetylcysteeine nebulization?

I would be interested in hearing about your experiences- was it helpful in loosening sputum and were there side effects or other inconvenience?

I nebulized NAC for about a month until hemoptysis started. I am prone to that though

I use it twice a day and find it helpful in thinning mucus.

@tte NAC is an unregulated supplement, and you need to buy from a reputable supplier. I decided a couple years ago that it wasn't a significant benefit to me, so I don't know who the current best suppliers are. Look for USP certification for the product, not just the company.

@sueinmn
thanks.
I found some at GNC vitamin store. CVS nor Walgreens by me had it. I will check to see if anything has USP certification. Oral capsule is not Rx, so how could it have USP certificatin?

@tte USP is an independent lab that tests and certifies quality and purity. It is not the FDA.

@scoop
I've found nebulizing glutathione to be very helpful, have also supplemented with NAC and glycine (glyNAC) to help my body produce glutathione on its own.
Glutathione isn't cheap at $42/100 dose.

@strohmf Thanks for sharing your expert, but I don't understand why you say it isn't cheap, $42 for 100 doses seems incredibly cheap. I have COPD with a lot of breathlessness, I will certainly try it.
