Has anyone in this community been treated for MAC under Dr. Zha @ UCSF
I am so happy to finally be under the care of a well-regarded expert in BE-NTM, Dr. Shoshana Zha. Really liked her at our first consult last week, and I would love to hear from others who have her as a pulmonologist and have also gone through NTM treatment with her so I have some idea of what to expect.
She has scheduled meetings for me with her nurse practitioner, a pharmacist, a dietician, and the respiratory therapist. However, my next appointment with Dr. Zha is in January, or 7 months after my June 2nd appointment. She said her nurse practitioner will read all the messages I send and that anything complex will be immediately referred to her. What has it been like for others?
I am just at the beginning now of my journey with her and hopeful about how all of it will hang together, but because my MAC is pretty advanced, with a major hemoptysis in my past, and frequent small and not so small hemoptysis occurrences in the past three years—and I also had a stroke in January most probably due to a very high value for Lipoprotein (a), I am feeling some trepidation. Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.
