Has anyone had an exacerbation while on Brinsupri?
I have been taking Brinsupri since November. It so reduced the amount of phlegm that I stopped airway clearance. After a few months, I became short of breath with rapid heart beat. I thought it was a heart problem because I did not cough. It took many weeks to discover that I had a lung infection and tested positive for enterobacter cloacae complex, a resistant bacteria that did not respond to Augmentin but appears to have responded to Levaquin. I have been very sick, hospitalized twice after not being in the hospital for 20 years. I think the lesson I learned is that you have to do airway clearance when on Brinsupri even if you have less to cough up. I am recovering but still coughing up old blood from the infection. I would be interested to hear how others are doing on Brinsupri. Wishing everyone well.

Yes, I have had two flare ups since being on brinsupri. And I have learned that I have to do airway clearance, regardless of whether it feels like I have any to produce. It is harder to produce it, it seems thicker. Put the trade off is worth it.I'm not coughing my brains out every day and all night. I very rarely cough, so when I find I am coughing more, I know, I need to work harder at getting the sputum up and out. I have been on brinsupri since last november and i'm currently in the hospital with a flare up that was not responding to the usual oral meds. I'm on intravenous round the clock.

2 ReactionsI started brensocatib last September and had been feeling fine other than a near constant sinus drainage issue that has my throat raw. Sometimes it's hard to swallow. I understand that upper respiratory issues are a common side effect. But yesterday and today I'm feeling like the problem may have gone into my lungs. I have more phlegm than usual and feel pretty unwell. The sputum is thick but clear. I'm doing airway clearance twice a day, as usual. I'm wondering if anyone else has been having sinus problems with Brinsupri.
@vstankie I just did the same thing — 4 night hospital stay w two IV antibiotics round the clock. Feeling better now but my throat is scratchy.
Been on Brinsupri for 10 months. Needed abx when I got covid in February. Late April I also took a short course due to what felt like sinus infection. Both times my sputum culture was negative for pathogens. I only start abx after dropping off sputum sample. Since then I've been feeling well. Continuing 2x day airway clearance. P.M. a little frustrating because there's almost nothing to bring up but I do it anyway. Day to day feel much improved over my pre-brinsupri days. Thankful indeed but would love to cut airway clearance to 1x day. Time will tell if that is possible.
PS - sinuses much improved since I've been taking an allegra everyday.

2 ReactionsI’ve taken 25 mg of Brinsupri since December. I have not had a flareup, but I was recovering from one when I started it. I was cautious to avoid crowd exposure all winter, I also do air clearance twice a day, and nebulize 7% saline twice a day. Most days I feel well, greatly improved. In fact I think the gradual improvement has come beyond the six months yet with Brinsupri.
@coffcoff I use my neti pot every day, it helps with sinusitis which I dealt with before brinsupri
@vstankie I use acetylsisteine to help thin mucus. What the difference I wonder?
@coffcoff I noticed more sinus congestion after 3 months on Brinsupri (started in February). But it's hard to tell if it's from allergies, ozone, smoke or the drug!

I’ve had a couple additional respiratory infections since starting Brinsupri. I’ve been on for about four months. I noticed my cough got much better and recently I’ve started with a very, very dry cough. That is constant. Does anyone know if I could be taking cough syrup?
