I have been diagnosed with Grover's disease under my breasts. I had a biopsy for diagnosis. Tried topical ointment with no really good results. Any ideas?
I used to think I got heat rash under my bra, but turns out I had rubber allergies and then developed GD. Steroids never helped me in this area. Even if steroids help temporarily you are only treating the condition and not stopping the cause. Yet, steroids had been a life saver for my ACD before I learned about testing. Many of us have multiple types of eczema, if you have GD don't assume your rash is only from GD, it may be from Allergic Contact Dermatitis, ACD. Get the 5 day extended Patch Test, google True Test.
Cottonique has some 100% cotton undies and bras along with latex free elastic undies and bra and other very soft 100% cotton items. Well made but no glamour and if you are large breasted the elastic free bras offer limited support. Some I know has success with their bra liner, it has a small band of latex free elastic in a casing at the bottom. Women wear these under their bras, yet even that doesn't help me as the elastics off-gas. I not only have GD but ACD and tested positive to an element in rubber with is used to synthesize blended materials like elastic. What I do is remove the elastic at the bottom of the bra liner and expand the casing with a soft 100% cotton knit and run one of their draw strings though the bottom and can wear this as a bra because I am small breasted and support is not an issue. Also their front tie 100% cotton bra has some support because of the shaping, but as it is seamed and a bit lumpy it works if worn with front button or snap shirts which are loosely fitted. Camp type shirts which are 100% cotton or polyester with 2 pockets are the best for camouflage. Columbia makes a few 100% polyester 2 pocket camp shirts which are more tailored and feminine. Really great for my casual lifestyle now retired. Just always read the fabric information as Columbia also makes blended fabric clothing. I wear lots of these camp shirts. I used to think I got heat rash, wrong. I have zero rash in bra area now from ACD and my GD has gone into remission because of the cilantro smoothie detox we have been talking about since the end of March 2019.

gardeningjunkie: You are probably the most prolific person who posts on this site. Kudos to you. I'm still struggling with my GD,going on 8 months now. My bathroom counter is running out of space due to creams, lotions, & ointments. I'm still on Blexten, Accutane, and now have to rely on a sleeping pill in order to get any quality sleep. 2 nights ago I tried to go without it & was virtually awake from midnight til 6:00 a.m. I'm becoming dependent on a sleeping pill. Nothing wrong with an addiction, right? Not! Anyway I want to ask you if you could inquire how we could have the format of this site altered so that we can see replies, right under someone's post. Right now we have to search to see if there are any replies. I still have a high aluminum count which I believe could be the under-lying cause of my GD. But the Derm. doesn't seem to agree. I'm also seeing a Rheumatologist now who will start from scratch to try and determine why I have GD and another problem related to a joint replacement(TKR) that is now 2 years post-op and I have swelling & pain with that.
What are you doing about your aluminum levels? Do you know that silica is know to remove aluminum from your system. Some mineral waters have silica levels written on their labels. There are also silica supplements. One I use is Planet Power Sipower Silica Pro Collagen. It’s a liquid in a dropper bottle. Silica has health benefits for hair, skin, nails and bones as well.
If the site can't alter the format consider the fact I often learn from others, even if it wasn't a reply to my comment. You are trying many treatments and I have mentioned the only one that I am certain helped and has kept me clear, even when I stopped using last Dec is the cilantro detox smoothies. Like you I have a high moderate aluminum allergy, nickle and several mild allergies to 3 other metals. I The metal allergies showed up in a test even after my metals blood test. I don't know about the count, just the allergic reaction. Flanax Liniment I have mentioned on other posts, a capsacian topical, is the topical that helped with itch. It burns madly for about 15 secs and surprisingly the burn feels better than the itch and then I would get about 30 of moderate itch relief which would allow me to fall asleep. I learned to never move off my sides at night as my sides were always clear of the papuales.
I just started taking silica, to help with other issues. I didn't know it cold help remove aluminum. That's for the tip.
Thanks for that. I will definitely try the Silica. I already take collagen daily so I will add this one to my ever-expanding list of treatments.
I think it's great that you have a doctor who is trying to figure out why you have GD. Few doctors even ask that question. Laziness or overwhelmed? Don't know the reason.
Hi, I was told by my derm doctor two years ago that she suspected grovers disease because I had red spots on my chest and very few in my stomach. They went away with prescription mometosome cream but now came back all over my stomach and under bra area but they itch very little. I’m curious what other people’s spots look like? Mine are red and seem to have small spots with broken skin like blisters. She gave me an anti fungal and said to try minocycline but they are still here. Does grovers come back and has anyone tried an antibiotic before?
Grovers does come back. I get it front and back torso, but my sister only gets it under her bra area and they itch very little. She was tested for GD and the biopsy came back positive.
Is there a way to send a photo to this site?

I would get a biopsy. I have a rare skin disorder called Lymphomatoid Papulosis- which usually appear on my abdomen, stomach, back. I also had many red bumps under my breasts and assumed it was the same. When I saw Derm- she said oh no- that's Grovers Disease. So I said – PLEASE do a biopsy and she did and sure enough I have 2 rare skin disorders. Sweating definitely brings out both of them. Tight clothing, stress, I have to wear cotton shirts- this is for the Lymphomatoid Papulosis. I haven't figured out the triggers yet for the Grovers. Right now, Grovers in remission. Facebook has a Grover's Disease support page – you should join it. Kathy
I should definitely join the support group for Grovers. I continue to be plagued with red rashes and itchy lesions that erupt spontaneously despite using various steroid creams. It is a mystery what triggers them but suspect certain fabrics and allergies probably to my cats and cleaning products. Still not convinced that fleas or dust mites are not to blame.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences.
I flared up badly for over 2 years. Finally tried light therapy and afer 3x a week for 6 months got significant relief.
Thank you. I will ask my dermatologist about that.
