Did you experience food intolerance after surgery?

I will be having the VSG shortly. I'm wondering how many experience food tolerance issues, such as cooked vegetables at four weeks out, or other typical tolerance issues.

@befarmer,

Fook intolerance is going to vary by individual, also how soon you will tolerate certain food. Follow the food plan the dietein or surgery gives you.

I had RNY, and I have to limit my dairy and fried food. I can do both in very small quantities, so if really want ice cream, I have about 1/4 cup.

The best advice I can give is add different foods little at a time, sometimes it is trial and error.

@befarmer, how are you doing? When will you have the vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG)?

My VSG is scheduled for early August, and I am now trying to learn as much as I can about the procedure, life-style changes that I will have to make, and sharing the journey with others. I am reading through My Hungry Head and am interested in preventing the weight gain that others report on after surgery after have lost so much weight, that is, head hunger vs. real hunger and applying it now before surgery. Also, I'm wondering about how hungry I might be with the diet the week before surgery. Thank you for the Connect community.

Welcome, @alicia31, I moved your question to this discussion where @befarmer @roch are talking about food intolerance.

Alicia, have you had bariatric surgery? Can you share a bit more about your intolerance?

I had a RNY in 2016. I used to love ice cream. Anything more than a 1/2
McDonald’s ice cream cone names me nauseous
Forget about anything sweet like tiramisu or chocolate
Trial. And error teaches you what you need to know

Everyone's new normal is different. Seeing you had multi surgery, the amount food you can eat will be different.

When was your last surgery?
