Fibromyalgia

Posted by @dknnkn in Bones, Joints & Muscles, Apr 29, 2012

Hello! I was just diagnosed this Friday with Fibromyalgia. Is there anyone out there with the same condition. I am a 37 yr old female that was pretty active until I took a drastic decline with severe increases in pain in August. Initial blood tests were pointing towards lupus, but after a thorough exam---fibromyalgia it is. My rheumatologist started me on a 2 week trial of savella. Thanks so much for any insight you may have for me πŸ™‚

I am happy you are 100% free of pain & 100% healthy, but there is no cure for Fibromyalgia. I don't think it is appropriate to encourage people by offering to tell them about these systems you BOUGHT. I noticed in another post you mentioned a book you had written. It appears to me that you are selling something, even if your approach is subtle.

I will never sell anything to people that are suffering or in pain. My experience is that it is easy to cure Fibromyalgia and many other health conditions people are suffering from. So please never judge and say anything else. Because when I say this, it is based on what I have of knowledge and experience, not anyone else. I take people very seriously, and will never sell the book (it is in Norwegian so it will not be for sale to people here anyway) or anything else. Many people would do exactly what you did, telling that it appears to you that I am selling something! In my life I have helped many people healthy from pain, cancer, Fibromyalgia without charging for it. It gives great meaning to have the knowlegde and power to help, so I will be happy to be respected for knowing how to cure Fibromyalgia and quite a lot of the Cancers. Thanks, Falke.

Hi there, dknnkn :)
I hope you are feeling good today. For me, Today is one of those rare days when I have a full blown fibro attack...(every muscle in my body hurts including facial muscles and in fingers and toes!) the good news is: I know it won't last. The only thing that helps me is taking MSM caps together with Vit C...and several different homeopathics. Kerri Lynn gave you excellent suggestions as to how to take care of yourself.
Be careful what you believe and what you buy into... and do NOT think of it as something you are forever stuck with...a positive mind set is crucial. I can go for WEEKS without any trace of fibro. When mine started it they called it "arthralgia"...because they didn't have a label for it...so thought it was like arthritis of the muscles (and it sorta is!) ... I used to have continuous dull pain on my right side, from R jaw line to R ankle...Malic Acid helped me a LOT in the beginning. I believe what brought on my attack today was two things: been through shock and stress because of death of a dear friend...and I ate two 7-Eleven donuts yesterday evening. (I really am serious that certain sugars effect me!)
Sometimes you just have to experiement and see what works best for you. Wishing you all the good luck in the world!

Bettyann, I am addicted to donuts. They are my comfort food, I know how awful I will feel when I eat them, but sometimes it's worth it. I try to take a supplement that helps aid in digestion...it helps a bit. Sugar and white flour really get me, but I crave them so much when Im sad or stressed.

I can relate to that! πŸ™‚ Next time I think I will stick to ONE...instead of TWO donuts! πŸ™‚ I should probably do extra Vit C...helps alkalize he system.... oh sigh....

How much extra vit C do you take? I would like to try that & see if it helps. I take 500 every morning and my multi vit has C in it. I also take 800 biotin, Super B stress complex,1000 fish oil, 2000 vit D, 600 calcium 2x daily, 1 mg folic acid and probiotics. Any other reccomendations?

I am a big believer in MSM --two 1 gram pills with 1 gram Vit C.(twice a day on an empty stomach)..I should take it more often, but it usually gets me back on track with fibro. You can take many GRAMS of Vit C and it can only do you good. I am taking fish oil again together with CoQ10...and it really helps get rid of IBS pain (which can really be knocked for a loop with a fibro attack πŸ™ ...but anyhoo. I also take homeopathics: Bryonia Alba and Arnica Montana... to me they work like a 'quick fix' and quickly reduce the pain. Work SO much better than Advil which doesn't even seem to touch the pain. Taking two or three 50mg Vit B complex per day rally is good for the ol' nerve and yup, the Folic Acid and probiotics...excellent.

I've seen Arnica at the compounding pharmacy and almost bought it several times, I will have to try it, does it have to be Arnica montana? Or is any arnica ok? I have to introduce 1 thing at a time soI think I will start with Arnica.I've got my IBS controlled pretty well finally. I take 1/2 a citrucil tablet at night & if I get a flare up & pain simethicone helps. Have you tried acupuncture? I have heard it's very helpful.

Is anyone taking savella?

lizkat

Posted by @lizkat, May 8, 2012

Hi DK
I'm on zoloft but am interested in how the savella works for you? I had a nearly immediate positive response to the zoloft, but I am in no way typical.

I think Savella is one of those new serotonin altering meds but I could be way wrong. Maybe Momentum could post one of his researches?

How are you sleeping? Is it restorative sleep? I am much better regarding pain level and mental acuity when I have good sleep. I take ambien and hydroxizine for sleep, oh and pramipexole for night-time restless legs.

I have found that after getting in a whopping flare I need to prioritize getting my sleep on track and then the other symptoms are easier to manage.
BTW I was diagnosed with Lupus for about 2 weeks and then settled on FM as well.

Keep us posted?

I was at mayo most of December. And I also have FM. I've been on savella and it worked well for me in terms of sleep and pain. However I'm having severe stomach/intestinal issues so they took me off to see if it mite be the cause. Does anyone else have gastroporisis w their FM? This truly has been a real struggle for me! If u want to talk u can private message me.

I take cymbalta, tramadol and placquenil. I also have polyarthritis. I do take magnesium supplements, D3 which most people with Fibro are low in. also B6 at bedtime to sleep. I do take other vitaimins just to stay as healthy as possible.

alsikkan

Posted by @alsikkan, May 12, 2012

I take 7000 to 10000mg of fish oil daily, 12000 mcg vitB12 sublingual each morning for energy, 5mg melatonin at night to help sleep, and 4 homeopathic magnilife fibromyalgia relief tablets daily. I am back to work and feel a lot better. I still have some pain, but it's not been debilitating lately. 2 yrs ago I was on Savella, Neurontin, and Ultram, but I got off the Rx's and went natural. The Rx's made me want to sleep all the time and didn't work as good.

barbinva

Posted by @barbinva, May 12, 2012

so you have found that the b12 and fish oil have helped a lot? I have trouble sleeping a lot lately, I have taken valerian root with my melatonin

alsikkan

Posted by @alsikkan, May 12, 2012

Yes, all of it. Valerian root works good too. I haven't taken it w/melatonin though, only by itself. I never eat fish, I hate the taste/smell, so maybe I was deficient.
4 yrs ago I was told I had polymyalgia rheumatica. I took prednisone for several yrs, but looking back now, it probably was the fibro. Terrible hip pain.

L Theanine (100mg) taken with Melatonin is also a good combo for a sleep aid.

I am so sorry, Eliz... Today is one of those day's I call: "A day when my whole right side is shot down" ...pain from R jaw line down through toes. I end up worrying about the jaw line pain, afraid there will be something major wrong with a tooth and will require a dental proceedure. πŸ™ My R neck hurts so bad...and all the trigger points all the way down...The one thing I know I have done that is different...eating WAY too much beginning Sunday (the 13th), far more meat than usual, and far more sweets than usual...and an elevated stress/level starting when I wake up and that usually wears itself away in several hrs... I know I have to keep AWAY from the computer in the mornings...I honestly believe there could be a connection between the severe fibro on the R side and hours of computer use...and I also am facing it is having a 'mental affect' on me, too. So beginning tomorrow AM, no computer until after lunch, and then limiting the amt of time on it. It is embarrassing to admit how addicted I am to the internet.... and I am the only one who can 'break' this addiction and I intend to. (I am not saying it caused the fibro...had that long before I owned a computer) but I believe that lately it HAS made it worse. We are each different in what trips our trigger points, eh? Eliz, I don't take Rx meds, but maybe you might consider it...its whatever works that makes it "Right" for any one of us.
