Dry mouth remedies

Posted by evw100 @ew100, Oct 3, 2020

I have Sjogren's Syndrome that causes dry mouth. I have been using Biotene Oral Balance Dry Mouth Moisturizing Gel to help me sleep at night. I put 1/2" on my tongue and my saliva started to flow and it sting my throat when I swallowed it. May be the strong sweetness irritate my throat? Wonder if you have the same experience?
Also, any recommendation for products that you use that help your dry mouth will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I use Ricola sugar-free lemon mints. They’re also good for coughs.
Available at the supermarket or drugstore.

I have the small bottle of Biotene spray on my nightstand. Seems to be a bigger problem when sleeping. I just spray and fall back to sleep. Use the mouthwash during the day.

I have Sjorens and other medical issues that cause dry mouth. I cannot use Xylitol or Biotene, it upsets my stomach. Are there other remedies or medication?

Nokkomo mints work best for my dry mouth. I really enjoy the flavors and usually order them on Amazon.

I use Ricola lemon mint drops (sugar free) and the saliva starts flowing immediately!!!
Get at Walmart or, I imagine, any drugstore.

Xylitol discs at night have saved my sleep with dry mouth. I put one on each side of my bottom gums and they put all night delivering enough saliva to keep my mouth moistened. Great find for dry mouth!

I was prescribed PIlocarpine which has helped

I have a small Pure humidifier that I put on low that helps at night. During the day, I drink lots of water and also chew gum. This works for me.

@jerseygirl21 & others---- Please be very careful sleeping while keeping a mint or lozenge in your mouth. You can choke on it. There are other methods such as sprays and rinses that are safe to use at night.
I had a relative die from choking on a cough drop in his sleep.
