Down in the dumps again – challenges with adult children

Posted by kdo0827 @kdo0827, Dec 27, 2018

Hi everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I started taking Cymbalta and got off the other stuff. I was doing better but the past 2 months or so not so good. I’m struggling with feeling invisible and I’m feeling very unappreciated. I feel my kids only call when they want something or have a problem. They never ask how I’m feeling nor do they try and help. I had a procedure done yesterday and neither one bothered to check on me. Adding this to my depression isn’t good. Do any of you have these same feelings about your kids? What should I do?

@kdo0827 it was for me I don't have depression that much so I just use St.John,s Wort which helps me there are some meds you can't take it with but Im able to take it when needed

I hear you, @lioness. Those calls are interruptions in the sleep cycle.

CBD oil is a good relaxer for me and isn't supposed to interact with other meds. relieves a lot of bowel cramps for me.

@parus @lioness Thank you for posting these links and the discussion. I started doing Tai Chi Yang Long Style in early 90s, the got away from it, then found it again 10 yrs ago. Haven't practiced it since moving here, but my teacher told me I should reach out and teach. This form takes about 35 to 40 minutes to complete. Tomorrow I will look at these links.

Hi, @kdo0827 - You will be in my thoughts with your colonoscopy this week.

Since you mentioned a question mark about whether the duloxetine (Cymbalta) may be causing any problems for you, here is some Mayo Clinic info on its side effects https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/duloxetine-oral-route/side-effects/drg-20067247. Have you had the chance to ask your prescribing doctor about whether the medication might be having any unwanted effects? If so, what did he or she say?

Thank you for your thoughts. My dr had me do a week prep before my colonoscopy and it’s been tough, can’t go anywhere. Today is my final big prep and the procedure is on Wednesday. Thanks for sending me the Cymbalta I’ll read it today. I see my psychiatrist next week. I’ll let you know what he says. Have a blessed day!
