Chronic Digestive Disorders

Posted by rozy288 @rozy288, Jun 5, 2021

I am suffering 7 years with chronic digestive disorders , that take me out every day and night . I have Chronic Gastritis, Esophagitis, Class B GERD , small Hiatal hernia , diverticulosis. The worse thing is , I deep wet beach what tastes like sewer water 2000-3000 x a day/ night . My gut can’t handle any kind of food . It just constantly churns and is so loud , non stop . I live on Ultra Pepto . I’ve tried everything under the sun , RX wise , holistic wise , diet and elimination wise . Had so many tests done ✅. Even did acupuncture and 3 sessions of hypnotherapy. 6 Gastro Drs , in 2 states . I’m not celiac and no h pylori . I Eat small and healthy when I can eat . No fast food , no caffeine , low sugar ( just fruit) low dairy . Tried Keto and Gluten free . I’m on waitlist for Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville 6 weeks now . I’m a medical mystery and it’s now getting to me emotionally. I can’t lead a normal life . So much I want to do and I’m always sick . No Dr. has helped yet . I pray daily for relief of symptoms. Even for a day or two of relief. I’m desperately seeking and tried everything they make for gut health on Amazon. Today I will start on antidepressant . I’m sick if I eat or don’t eat and have empty stomach. We rarely go out to lunch and never to dinner . Just cook at Home . My poor body is getting weary of this . 7 years taken away and counting .
Thanks, Rosemary

I am so glad you got into Westin. Even once you start at mayo, it is a lot of back and forth for months. I am still not done with testing. And I still do not know anything more than i already knew. So I think this is a great option for you and I wish you all the best! message me and let me know how it goes when you do your virtual visit. I am thinking of seeking another opinion there.

@gastrogirl hi … so you went to Mayo many times and they still didn’t figure out what’s wrong w/ you (after all the tests )??!! Don’t you live in New Zealand ?? How many times have you had to come all the way to Mayo in Jacksonville? I’m 3.5 hrs south of there and 2.5 hrs North of Cleveland Clinic,Weston . The only good thing is my X Sis in law lives 10 min from Weston and I can stay w/ them .
I will keep you posted on televisit now on 27 th July . Good Bless

Hi. No, I live in Tampa. I have had so many test! I do have a diagnosis but they are unsure why I have it or how to treat it. Treatment so far has gotten me worse so I was hoping they could figure it all out. I must have another underlying autoimmune issue and they said they would find it. But so far we ruled them all out. But still no idea how to treat since the meds that usually help with all this will not work for me.
But I have tons of info on what I do not have! LOL

@mainelysiberians

It was called Ultra Flora Probiotic …I do remember that is was a live probiotic, meaning its cultures were alive and it needed refrigeration. I have taken a probiotic for 10 years now. She also suggested Gallataine and DGL as digestive aids. The results of the diet change and supplements were amazing.

Which Ultra Flora do you use? There are so many available in that brand.

I feel like I'm in the same boat, PLUS I keep gaining weight even though I don't eat a lot of food

I used DGL licorice many times and many good probiotics and prebiotics @mainelysiberians . I have a laundry list of things I’ve tried for the gut and intestines. Nothing combats or gets rid of the churning and giant amount of gas my stomach and intestinal trac holds( or makes ). I hate eating for years now .. it’s stressful knowing the aftermath. I hope others can get relief with your suggestion though . I live on Ultra Pepto. Calms the seas for half hour , rest of my day is miserable trying to figure out what to eat ( always healthy choices only )!

What is the diagnosis they gave you thus far ?? Who’s your Dr. at Mayo ?? I don’t know of a specific Gastro there ( I think they match you to someone right )?
They will probably not be calling me anyway but I still hope ? If not I’ll let you know what CC says end of July .
How many tests and which ones did they run .? Gosh I’ve had so many in last 7.5 years!! Only the Colonoscopy and Endoscopy most recent ( a year ago).
Rest were about 3-4 years ago @gastrogirl

Hope your digestive woes can be dealt with soon! My only suggestion is that you see a knowledgeable holistic, naturopathic doctor. Their natural approach works for me. Drugs and surgery don’t seem to be an option for you…. Best wishes to you~Diana

@fourof5zs I just read your post and think that you have offered a lot of good suggestions. The keeping of a journal to record foods, symptoms is great. Taking a list of questions for the doctor is also a good idea.

Teresa, thank you for your kind words.

I am sorry I am delayed in answering. I have had a rough time with swallowing.. food stuck; it dislodged, but some foods are still hard to swallow.. tends to make me nauseous when it happens. I am feeling better now.. I adjusted my eating. I will call The Mayo Clinic soon and see when I might get an appointment.

@clutch wow !! Yes they have a waitlist or cancellation list . I too spoke to GI scheduling 3 x . I’ve been on it for 7-8 weeks . Where do you live ? Have you considered Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL like I just scheduled a televisit with ? Or better yet Cleveland clinic in Ohio? Are used to live an hour from there for 23 years, now I wish I still did so I could go there ( minus the cold weather)!! I’m in West Melbourne, FLA now .
I think it depends on your diagnosis and how severe it is if you get into mayo clinic in Jacksonville? Maybe you have to be critical or close to it ? I don’t know 🤷‍♀️. It sure is frustrating as you know . Keep calling them . Have your Gastro Dr. send over something stating you need to be seen ASAP . I’ve only seen this new Gastro Dr. here once ( I’ve had many prior ) and he said for me to go to Mayo and sent referral and records but I don’t think he said how severe my problems are ( thus the waitlist). Ugh 😑, right . Keep me posted .

You have bear in mind that Covid has changed a lot or things in this world.

The Mayo Clinics serve not only the USA, but patients from all over the world. The clinics have had doctors, nurses, technicians and many, many other employees come down with the virus. They are also trying to keep their employees and patients safe by keeping the number of people in the buildings down.. spacing and wearing mask. Some sub-waiting rooms are very small.

Hopefully the virus will soon wane and things can get back to the more usual.. I would say normal… but I am not sure what that is anymore. At the moment we have to be patient patients and wait even though we need to be seen right now.

I know how miserable and painful feels and how hard it is to wait. I have had to wait for surgery I needed for months because of insurance denial. My insurance had no peer to peer doctor… it was farmed out. Vomiting, weight loss, and tons of pain later I got the surgery I needed.

My best wishes that you get seen soon by someone that can help you.

@fourof5zs I finally got a televisit appt ( my choice first before traveling 3 hours to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville). Sept 7 th . I waited 9 weeks on waitlist to get appt in Sept ( another 9 week wait ). I’m still exactly the same but actually think I’m getting worse weekly ( after not a days break in symptoms in 7.5 years). I was on antidepressant 6 weeks but it was causing me even more anxiety. I’ve tried a few over the years since this makes me so down . I do have RX for years for anti anxiety med to take as needed . I just cannot believe what is going on in this gut and intestines daily and nightly.
It’s relentless whether I have food to digest or it’s completely empty .
I pray 🙏 so hard this young Gastro Dr. will be able to help solve this . This is my last hope . I’ve exhausted all options after this .
@gastrogirl i wanted to let you know this too .
How are you all doing now ?
God Bless , Rosemary
