calcific arteriosclerosis

Posted by charlena @charlena, Nov 3, 2017

My husband had an ABI procedure and results were "abnormal ABI's with bilateral noncompressible, calcific arteriosclerosis. While I do understand this, I am not very informed on it. I would appreciate input from others who have this diagnosis and what their doctor has advised them. Thank you.

Hi @charlena,

Here's some information from Mayo Clinic, specifically about understanding results after ankle-brachial index, ABI testing: https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/ankle-brachial-index/basics/results/prc-20014625

I would also encourage you to read this journal article about the link between noncompressible arteries and peripheral vascular disease: http://www.annalsofvascularsurgery.com/article/S0890-5096(13)00233-1/pdf

Although this discussion took place a while ago, you may wish to go through it as a few members have written about ABI: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/p-a-d-periphereal-artery-disease/

@predictable, @hopeful33250, would you have more information regarding this diagnosis? @charlena, I see that your husband has PMR; may I ask if he has been tested for any other conditions, such as diabetes?
