What's your experience wtih Brinsupr (brensocatib)?
It seems a bunch of us have started Brinsupri. Let's use this thread for discussion. If you are taking Brinsupri have you noticed anything different, including changes to bronchiectasis or side effects? How long have you been on it?

@faymk Wheezing sounds like asthma, though I have asthma, I rarely wheeze but asthma can get me coughing ALL day long and for months. I take both Brinsupri and recently restarted Montelukast-though it doesn't work for many. For me leukotrienes were always an issue, particularly in the spring and fall. I started Brinsupri 3 months ago and I started noticing an improvement at about 4 weeks. That's not really that unusual and I believe it has to do with the extent that neutrophil enzymes impact one or another. Unfortunately, I'm now getting skin issues. Panther RX pharmacists are hearing that many are seeing effects within the 1-2 month timeframe, but not everyone. I think it's worth a call to INSMED, who continue to collect data from many of us (and their pharmacy partner, Panther RX). I would think by now they would have a good handle on how many start feeling improvement within 1.2, or 3 months and up through 6 months.

2 Reactions@kathyjjb What kind of skin issues After 2 months on the medication I have a small but very itchy rash on my forearm.
@softballqueen My back is dry and itchy, and I just had a lesion on forehead diagnosed as actinic keratosis. I've never had anything like it before and been always careful about sun exposure.

2 ReactionsSo I am now into the 2 month of Brinsupri 10mg & I honestly feeling worse then better. The common cold side effect I got, is now into week #2. The amount of cough seems endless & the mucus production is crazy. It seems I begin my day coughing & end it the same way. I have short stints of no coughing, but not enough to feel it am getting prolonged period of relief. Just wondering if others saw things get worse before it got better.

1 Reaction@tolepainter I am exactly where you are at 2 months in and I'm not sure if I'm worse but certainly no better. Still same excessive cough with shortness of breath and I developed bronchitis the first of May and had to be treated for that. I'm going to give it a full 6 months than will re-think it.

1 Reaction@tolepainter At the 5-month mark, I developed an URI, from granddaughter. Lots of mucus production, wheezing, rhonci, fatigue etc. Sputum did not indicate a need for antibiotics. It took 2.5 weeks to get over it.

I have wondered about Ohtuvayre. How is it going? Has it helped you? Can you tell a difference? Ohtuvayre is in clinical trials for bronchiectasis but has been approved for COPD. Were you in the trials? I cannot be in the trial because I am on Brinsupri and I would have to be Brinsupri free for 3 months, so I'll guess I'll wait for it to be approved. I'd enjoy hearing from you.
@scoop I’ve been on Ohtuvayre 2 years now. I don’t have COPD- I have alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency and bronchiectasis as a result. I wasn’t in a clinical trial for it.
