Arriving by trailer

Posted by nancykamitchis @nancykamitchis, Jan 8 4:47pm

I have a consultation appointment at the Phoenix Hospital next month and we are driving in for the day from out of state. We will be towing our 19 ft travel trailer with a pick up truck. It is the only way we can travel. I need to know if I can park it for the day in the north parking lot, #1 or 2, while we are in the Mayo Clinic Specialty building #2 that afternoon.

Hi @nancykamitchis, great picture!
To get a sure answer about parking your trailer, I suggest you contact the Mayo Clinic Concierge Services – it is a free service that you can use prior and during your visit to help you find services, such as accommodations, transportation and things to do. You can contact them by email, phone, chat or in person during business hours:

* Phone: 507-538-8438
* Live Chat: https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide
* Email: concierge@mayo.edu
* Web form: https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/minnesota/becoming-a-patient/concierge-travel-services

@lmindela might know more information too.

Well after contacting everyone I could on planet Mayo and bouncing electronically all around with them, a final conclusion is no, we can't park in the lot with our trailer. Even for just the few hours we'll be there in the afternoon, why? Because the parking lot is currently "under construction." Given prevailing local RV campground prices that means it will cost us $50-60/night, X two nights. Bummer, to say the least.

Oh no! Nancy, I'm sorry to hear this. I wonder if you could find parking at one of the hotels on campus or nearby? Or the Village? It wouldn't hurt to call and ask. https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/arizona/hotels-lodging

Unfortunately, no one connected with the… "Mayo Campus (?–what's that?)" had, or offered, any help with alternative solutions. We tried. I thought it would be a simple no-brainer thing –but evidently — This being high season for snow birds in the area, it ain't. Had to act fast or risk being shut out at any local RV park. In fact, learned our favorite one, Eagle View in Ft McDowell, was booked. —We just today reserved a two day spot at another one. Them's the breaks.

It is snowbird season. Forgot about that. "Mayo campus" is the term used to refer to Mayo properties at a particular location, for example the Phoenix Mayo Campus, Jacksonville Mayo Campus, Rochester Mayo Campus.

I'm glad that you got a spot at another RV park. You might consider adding your name to a cancellation list at Eagle View.
All the best with the medical appointments.
