Anyone diagnosed with PMR after the Pfizer vaccine?

Posted by mellee @mellee, Feb 28, 2023

I received the Pfizer covid vaccine and had horrible joint pain 8/10 as a side effect. I reported it online. 7 months later I developed horrific joint pain in my shoulders, hips and knees(same pain after the vaccine, but worse). I was ultimately diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica. I wish there was a site to go to and report these things.
I am only 57 and was a runner most of my life up to the age of 51, so I am not in horrible shape for my age. The pain from that PMR was very disabling. I am now on Hydroxychloroquine 200 mg BID and Prednisone 10 mg a day. Not happy about having to take more medications.

I’m curious did you have any other health issues before your Pfizer vaccine?

Just Hashimoto/Thyroid. No flu or cold in 20+ yrs. Nothing.

I'm convinced my last Pfizer shot gave me PMR. I had my sixth shot in May 2023, and within a month had started developing PMR symptoms. I wasn't actually diagnosed until late July, but was in misery until then. Now, almost a year later, I'm down to 10mg of prednisone from 15mg, and continuing to slowly taper. I think that sixth shot just tipped my immune system over the edge. I was also going through a lot of stress at the time, which probably didn't help.

I have also heard of people developing PMR after an actual bout of Covid.

Anyhow, I haven't had any more Covid vaccines -- I'm afraid to. I don't want to do anything that might cause a PMR flare because I want to get off the prednisone. Being on it for a year-plus worries me -- I've had to taper very, very slowly to avoid flares.

When I asked my doctor about a potential connection between Covid vaccines and PMR, he said it was possible, but it's too soon to say for sure. He said it'll take another 4-5 years before science can determine the full medical fallout from Covid and its related vaccines.

Pfizer acknowledge in my case that the booster caused my PMR.

In November 2021 I did my civic duty and I had the Pfizer booster shot.
5 days later I found myself paralyzed and unable to basically move as the pain was excruciating. I went to the ER, informed them that the only thing I did was to get the booster, mind you I never even had Covid. To make a long story "shorter", Doctor # 7 finally diagnosed me and through research; cone to find out that if you had the Pfizer shot and you are female, over 65, caucasian AND specifically of Scandinavian decent; there is a high probability of getting PMR. I thanked Pfizer for ruining my life. Pfizer is following my case but has yet to "apologize". Life has been hell, I also had 2 strokes twice. Prednisone & Humira but neither is making much difference. I tried all the other medications as well and did the Ivermectin protocol to no avail. So, my question is to find others who developed PMR from the shot.

I am 62 years old female and I was diagnosed with PMR in Augest 2021 after I received two shots of pfizer COVID vaccine. Unfortunatly I didn’t realize the connection between the vaccine and my diagnosis until I received the third shot and my Sed rate result came very elevated.
I was put on prednisone for two years but I had to stop due to devoloping arthritis.
Like you, my life has been hell and thanks to pfizer for ruining my life.

I knew from the get go that my condition had to have been brought on by the shot as I was never sick or had any serious issues. I suggest that you write to Pfizer and thank them, like I did, for ruining your life. They will respond and ask for your lands. Document everything so if we are ever able to sue the heck out of them; at least you will have proof.

Not from the Pfizer vaccine, but I had the exact same reaction to the Shingrix vaccine. I was a fitness instructor/ personal trainer in excellent health. I am now unable to work. I can not even perform gentle stretches without aggravating my entire body. It’s deflating.

My diagnosis came hard on the heels of Covid vaccine. No health issues prior. You CAN report your experience. If you go to healthunlocked.com which is British and has a PMR support group they can point you in the right direction. There are studies indicating a pretty clear connection between the vaccines and PMR. (I think of us as collateral damage).

I think the covid shots caused my PMR. I have no proof but it seems pretty suspicious to me.

I feel the same way. All of my issues developed within a very short time after receiving my last shot. No more covid vacs for me.

My symptoms didn't develop right away, but I still think the shots had something to do with it. My pharmacist said I should get the shingles vaccine and the RSV vaccine now that I am taking methotrexate. I just read this morning not to get the RSV vaccine because they don't know enough about it. It sure is frustrating dealing with this painful disease.

All my 5 covid vaccines were Pfizer and I never had any reactions of any kind nor illnesses, etc. Never even had to be tested for Covid. My biggest problem during all that was all the chlorine products in use. I am extremely sensitive to chlorine and had many asthma attacks back then as a result.
