Aneurysm

May last year, found a 13x9mm aneurysm at base of my brain. Awaiting results from tests for a plan of attack. Scary stuff. Stinting or brain surgery coming up. 54 years young. No family history.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Aortic Aneurysms Support Group.

That is large for a brain aneurysm, but you already know that, hopefully it has vascular acceptance it can be treated through embolization (stent or coil) I had both a brain aneurysm and an aortic aneurysm, both repaired, my brain aneurysm was small but with family history of ruptures and having vascular access the recommendation was to repair sooner than later, it was done with a stent (had to get a second one placed later as the first one didn’t fully address it). Got that done at 52 about 9 years ago.

Watch your BP, high BP is the worst enemy of aneurysms, you may need a cardiologist to help you control it.

There is a separate group in this site that deals with brain aneurysms and strokes you may want to join that, this group deals mainly with aortic aneurysms but a lot of the recommendations apply. The other one has more specific topics around brain aneurysms that you may find useful (I participate in that one also)

All the best to you, you know you have it before it became an emergency that’s already being ahead of the game!!!
