Alternatives for pain management

Posted by grandmaR @grandmar, Mar 31, 2018

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone tried cryo therapy or medical marijuana for pain management. If you did, how did they/it work?
Thanks

I'm SO glad for you and the fact that you are able to "work thru the pain"!!! Unfortunately, my hobbies, including gardening, my 30 + house plants, chores like sweeping, mopping, that side to side motion, bending, stooping, lifting any size bag of trash, even picking up something causes my pain. Which feels like a concrete block sewn in to the middle of my back. But enough whining!!! I'm thrilled for you and that you have someone close who understands!!! Cudos for you. Your words, you, set an example that it can be done!! Thank you..for welcome g me into your group. I realizeI am not alone.

Thanks, Justin. I see you like golf. I do too, but haven't played for quite awhile. It's so good to stay active, although I may have a bad flare up later.

Artscape...excellent. vaping or oil drops on tongue. My son tried capsules and he did not like them. They have opportunities for non smoker. I am calling Gov office in Texas. I want an appt to sit down with him.

@lioness and @oregongirl, I just read your posts from a day ago. Please be careful. The web site has a typo in it - the word "therapy" is misspelled. If they are this careless, can they be trusted? @cognac

@lauren123, Golf became my outlet for sports after I had to stop playing all of the other sports. I love getting out to a nice secluded golf course in the early evening and letting the world fade away. Like you, however, I have barely played the last few years. I definitely to get back in to it!

Hi All
I just received the attached in my e-mail.
I know we have been talking about pain meds.
This is from a medical clinic in Florida, but if your state is reducing the amount of pain meds they give out, I'm assume the article is similar to your state.

New State Law Impacts Narcotic Prescriptions

Starting July 1, the HB21 law will go into effect. Watson Clinic will proudly adhere to this law, which monitors and limits the process of narcotic prescriptions.

This legislation is diagnosis-based, limits the number of days a physician can prescribe a narcotic medication and requires that all medications in certain drug categories be reported to the state's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program system. Click here for more information.

Doctors have always occupied the lowest level of folks worthy of respect (in my experience); but has anyone else noticed how mindless they've become? Why has whoever's behind the drug gestapo tactics peddled so much utterly false information/facts that so many innocents seem to have bought? Fact:out of every 130 chronic pain patients who take opioids, 1 (yes, ONE) will become addicted. A doctor I no longer see began screaming at me, that I was trying to put her in jail, when I'd gone to see her when I knew I would be going through withdrawal, and as I have a seizure disorder could she give me something in case this happened? Sheesh. Maybe it's just California, eh? I lived in Minnesota for a year and loved the state: even gave my son, who was born there, the middle name Haacon, who was the king of Norway at the time . Probably I'm just blathering on because it makes me feel close to Minniapolis. Thanks for allowing me to babble!

@geezappeal1 Hey it is not only CA. The opioid drama is creating even more drama w/ all of the drama. Babble on. Someone in the upper eschelon must have lost a loved one and wants to punish everyone.

@lauren123 Congrats on getting an "Alexa" and how you've programmed it to help you with the type of information you want and need, rather than negative distractions. Did you know that Mayo Clinic is the first (and I think only) health organization that has developed health information specifically for Alexa?

We developed programs
1. Mayo Clinic News Network: you can get the latest information from Mayo Clinic experts on topics such as cancer, heart and brain health; transplant; advances in research; and advice for healthy living.
2. Mayo Clinic First Aid: provides you with self-care instructions for dozens of everyday mishaps and other situations and provides quick, hands-free answers from a trusted source.

You can read more about it and enable this "skill" from the Alexa Skills Store here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/voice/apps
I find this exciting.
