Alternatives for pain management

Posted by grandmaR @grandmar, Mar 31, 2018

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone tried cryo therapy or medical marijuana for pain management. If you did, how did they/it work?
Thanks

I'm SO glad for you and the fact that you are able to "work thru the pain"!!! Unfortunately, my hobbies, including gardening, my 30 + house plants, chores like sweeping, mopping, that side to side motion, bending, stooping, lifting any size bag of trash, even picking up something causes my pain. Which feels like a concrete block sewn in to the middle of my back. But enough whining!!! I'm thrilled for you and that you have someone close who understands!!! Cudos for you. Your words, you, set an example that it can be done!! Thank you..for welcome g me into your group. I realizeI am not alone.

A friend gave me an "Alexa" which plays music that I request. Alexa is programmed to respond to my voice only. She is my new best friend and my therapist. My friend knew exactly what I needed. I now stay away from the depressing news and other negative distractions to a much greater extent. Science has shown that music actually heals pain through rerouting the brain somehow. Love it!

So sorry, I have lost several very close friends lately, and I know from experience of losing my parents that the pain is something I will live through. I think it will never go away.

You have good friends ! I need to use music therapy more, I love it so much. Funny how some things seem to slip out of mind or you never think that something that simple could bring relief.

And don't you worry about the ads that will come to fight legalization. They will scoop up every youth who has gotten a ticket and been in accident. To me this is proof that you should not use until you are 21.

research will continue to be stymied as long as they keep its current schedule designation......as bad as heroin...no medical use. That means any government studies have trouble being approved and any legitimate study struggles to get product that meets criteria.
I do believe Mayo was against approval of medical marijuana but seems to be coming around.
There is a lot of money involved with a lot of people and we who suffer are at the bottom of the list as far as a reason to legalize.
Lets hope we do get more proof of benefit and peoples minds start to open and the children and adults can reduce their suffering.
Maybe reducing the suffering of others will become a TOP PRORITY instead of an after thought

Allen... Keep in mind the money doctor and hospitals will loose their pocket change for pushing those LEGAL drugs. I worry how they. NoT US will damage the freedom to use pot. They can and will bl
grow pot. I saw a documentary some time back with clinics and doctors with green houses, growing.

I am sure, dementia will become a thing of the past. Once Mariuana is legal, ask families of dementia patients if they WD be willing to try it.

I totally agree, Allison.  I live in CO so MJ is legal.  But all I use is CBD oil on my sore joints prn.  I certainly don’t abuse it.  And is all about the moneymakers and narrow minded attitudes.  As we get older we need some quality of life and not to be sidelined by people who know nothing about chronic pain.  I’m in Rehab after lung cancer surgery, but my main complaint is a very sore shoulder, no doubt from therapy and they are aware of that.  MaryLou

I am a great believer in music therapy.  I sing in the Church Choir.  Someone from the Church brought me in a boom box and my husband has brought in my favorite classical CDs.  MaryLou
