I was wondering if anyone tried cryo therapy or medical marijuana for pain management. If you did, how did they/it work?

Artscape…excellent. vaping or oil drops on tongue. My son tried capsules and he did not like them. They have opportunities for non smoker. I am calling Gov office in Texas. I want an appt to sit down with him.

Well in Oregon pot is highly regulated for mold. When sellers were selling before it became legal, I smelled for mold and carefully examined my purchase. I never had to use constant pain pills for my RA. That is until I moved to Texas. It is totally illegal here. So back to pills. I don't like smoking so I used the oil. Excellent. The pharmasutical business is holding back marijuana. Meanwhile Drs form corporations growing marijuana. Oh you wait, they will get it by and you will need a scrip for it. Money money money.. kick back to doctor, sales person, pharmacy. What a joke. I grew three plants in my sunroom in Oregon. What is wrong with Texas?

I'm SO glad for you and the fact that you are able to "work thru the pain"!!! Unfortunately, my hobbies, including gardening, my 30 + house plants, chores like sweeping, mopping, that side to side motion, bending, stooping, lifting any size bag of trash, even picking up something causes my pain. Which feels like a concrete block sewn in to the middle of my back. But enough whining!!! I'm thrilled for you and that you have someone close who understands!!! Cudos for you. Your words, you, set an example that it can be done!! Thank you..for welcome g me into your group. I realizeI am not alone.
Never heard of Alexa. I know google it. thanks for info.

@lauren123. Yes. I'm with you. Lost my Mom in Oct 2013 after a 5 year battle. Then My husband Aug 4 2015. My Dad got very sick the following Oct 2015. Had to move in with him as full time caregiver still reeling from the sudden loss of my huband. Then My Dad died just a few months ago. I haven't had time to grieve for….only to miss my husband. It's been extremely tough and I wonder WHAT NEXT?! And how I've kept going..Surely I've earned a break.
I definitely know how you feel. Please know I'm here for you…as is everyone in this group.

We are moving to a new home. My husband's health is declining. We are moving to a Christian Retirement Community where we will be able to stay the rest of our lives. Will have an independent Cottage Apartment as long as we are able to stay in it, then they have assisted living, then mental health, and nursing care. All sorts of things to do including dining, exercise, swimming, gardening, hiking, crafts and sweet peace. I'm 86 and ready to totally relax. Think it's about time. God is good to us and has always been my answer. 🙂
I am sorry your husband's health is declining. It sounds like you have found a fantastic place to live out your lives. I pray you get what you are looking for.
Thank you for sharing all this information.
You have certainly done your homework!

HAPPY 4th of JULY ALL!
I went to the neurosurgeon yesterday. I went to discuss surgery for my lumbar spine. Things took a strange turn.
Last week we were on vacation. I noticed that when my right foot was on the floor, I could not turn it or lift my toes.
Parts of both feet, ankle and toes are numb and have pain or pin and needles.
My doc was very perplexed because symptoms don't usually happen, all of a sudden, in the same places.
As he thought about it we went on discuss my pain. He asked if I took anything like Advil.
I reminded him that I had weight loss surgery and I am not able to take any NSAIDS.
I could see the light bulb go off.
It was at that point he said he thought that those issues were not coming from my back but from a B12 vitamin deficiency!!!
This is not unusual for someone who has had weight loss surgery (WLS).
I am going for blood work to see if it is the B12 or any other vitamin deficiency.
To be safe, I am also going for an EMG to make sure I don't have any nerve damage and an Thoracic MRI to make sure there is nothing he is missing regarding my pain.
I am very happy he is being so thorough.
If I do have a B12 deficiency, it will explain a lot of symptoms I have been having that is right out of the text books.
So right now, no surgery talk for my lumbar.
I go back in a couple of weeks for the EMG then a week after that, we meet again to discuss all the findings and make a plan.
To be continued……….
BTW………Right smack in front of the receptionist window was the sign….
No more than 1 week of pain meds will be prescribed after surgery.
Pain meds will no longer be refilled without an in person visit.

Hi. I've just joined as I've just started taking the Holland and barratts cbd oil 2.75%.I'm on mst morphine 30mg twice a day,and oramorph 10mg 3x day for breakthrough pain. So I substituted my night time morphine tablet for the oil.i do have to take quite a lot of drops under my tongue(about 6 or 7)But I don't have my night time pain, and I sleep right through the night. only problem is I dream so much but remember the dreams so they must be about 6 hours into not having morphine, so I'm guessing they're withdrawal from not having my last morphine tablet before sleep. So for me(last Xmas I came off 75mcg of fentanyl patches in 4 days, but I had bronchitis and was already ill. I only had 4 horrible nights )it does help, but I am also going to try stop my interim morphine liquid and replace with cbd oil. So for me I would say it works however I need a stronger percentage with my level of chronic pain
Welcome to the Mayo Connect community. I'm a Volunteer Mentor and am not a medical professional and cannot give medical diagnosis or medical solutions to problems. I do offer my experience, knowledge, and support for members of the community. I look forward to getting to know you better.
I am very impressed that you are working to withdraw from your morphine regimen using CBD oil. I have found CBD to be very valuable in my own withdrawal from Tramadol. I agree that you may need to seek a stronger version of CBD:THC since you are on such strong pain medications. Would you be willing to share with us the reason you need pain management? Understanding your situation will help us to be more helpful in our feedback and support of you.
– How long have you needed medication for pain?
– What is your physical situation?
– Do you live in a state where marijuana is legal?
– Is your physician aware that you're using a CBD:THC drug? The reason I ask this is because my physician told me if they drug test me & I ever show marijuana or CBD in my urine, he would stop prescribing other pain drugs and kick me out of the Pain Clinic. That just made me more determined to get off the prescriptions and use only CBD:THC for my pain. I have been successful.
Please help us get to know you better in the near future. You will find acceptance, non judgemental support and lots of ideas as part of Mayo Connect.
